Old and quirky! Building.
I found the bed uncomfortable for me. But otherwise a great stay and lovely breakfast.

Great location amongst the antique shops in Barnard Castle. Traditional pub with quirky rooms, we were given the top room with nice views over the rooftops. Clean and fresh with all the usual accompaniments. Staff helpful and friendly. It is an old building with some steepish stairs and low beams which is charming and to be expected! Plenty of free on street parking close by and a very short walk down to the lovely riverside walks. Good breakfast provided, standard fare well prepared, no issues there. Overall a pleasant stay and would book again with no hesitation.

The location
On arrival the staff were not very welcoming. Not expecting banners and fireworks but a smile wouldn't go amiss. Whilst the breakfast was very nice I do think they could have a later sitting. 8.30am or 9.00am was the choice. A bit too early for a Sunday morning when you have been out a celebratory party the night before.
