Koyasan Guesthouse Kokuu

Location, Host, facilities, food was incredible!! Vibe was awesome with good people and perfect for the stay

The staff is incredibly polite and super sweet, we chatted for a great while, the place is well located with a short 3-4 minute walk from the last bus stop. The inidvidual dorm booths have doors and the property is well maintained, the food was delicious as well

Just a headsup for people booking, nothing bad per se, but just information - The washrooms do not ahve those automatic buttons like you usually find in Japan, plus I couldnt find jet as well, so that was just a bit of surprise since I found them everywhere else but it was fine since the bustop is very nearby and there a lot of really nice, clean, automatic washrooms there. From the price point, it is absolutely worth it.

My stay at Kokuu guesthouse was amazing. From the moment I arrived Mr. Ryochi welcomed me kindly and explained everything and more! The buses I needed to take, the different temples and activities to do, showed me where everything was and I truly appreciated it. The town itself is very small and feels very intimate. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of bigger cities, I wholeheartedly suggest this place. As a spiritual person, I genuinely felt so at peace there and I loved taking part of the various activities offered by the temples. Unfortunately I was there for only 2 nights but would love to come back in the future. There is a quiet eerie vibe in the air, in the best way possible and I was honored to pay my respect and gratefulness to the Buddhist deities🩷 Thank you so much Mr. Ryochi, hope to see you at Kokuu in the future, again...in the meantime I wish you the best🙏🏻

It was super close to the cemetery entrance and the bus stop to get to the rest of town. My friend and I stayed in the double room. It was super comfy and very clean. The breakfast was affordable and very delicious.

The room got a little stuffy, but Japan in August is so hot that humidity is hard to avoid. Maybe having a bit more airflow in the room would have made it a bit more comfy, but it was still great.
