Despite a few small comfort issues, this last-minute Christmas stay exceeded our expectations with a warm, well-equipped

We booked this apartment as a last-minute Christmas getaway after realising our original booking was for the following year, and it turned out to be one of the best places we’ve stayed. The apartment was perfect for our needs — warm and cosy for winter, well laid out with plenty of storage, and very well equipped. The oven was spotless, making it easy to cook a Christmas dinner, and the fridge was a great size. The location was fantastic, right by the river opposite the performance stage and only a five-minute walk to the Christmas market and High Street. The written instructions were clear and very helpful, with great local recommendations.

A couple of small points: we were only provided with one pillow per person, and they offered no support. Additionally, we were only given one small tea towel for the entire week, with no way to wash it, which felt a little unhygienic — having at least two would have been appreciated. It also would have been nice to have a blanket for the sofa. Aside from these small points, we were very happy with our stay and would gladly come back in the future.

Wonderful cosy place

We stayed in the Gerda apartment, on the top floor. We liked the apartment quite much. It has a great bed with a solid wooden frame and pleasantly hard matrass, very comfy to sleep. All other furniture is also good, a nice mix of modern items and a few carefully selected antic pieces. Large smart TV, sufficiently large kitchen with all needed equipment. New windows block all noise from the street. The bathroom and the shower are in perfect condition. Nothing was broken or neglected. From the kitchen window, you get a great view of the city roofs.

The floor in the kitchen can be quite slippery if you walk in socks. We managed to fall a couple of times. The floors are also quite creaky.

Wonderful stay, not long enough.

Walking distance from the train station and right in the centre of the city, the apartment is comfortable, spacious and quiet. Lubeck is stunning, we loved the architecture and history and just wandering the streets. So many museums to look at and old buildings. Easy for pedestrians and cyclists. Hosts at the seafood and fish restaurant are helpful and friendly. Very well organised. We will return.

Old city through your windows

There is amazing city view. And also we like apartments design and equipment. For example, you can use washing machine and iron. It’s important in a long trip. Also everything is tidy and ready to use. We like bed’s mattress, it’s enough hard and comfortable. We’ve been in two-level apartment but used just first floor. So we don’t know is it comfortable to live on the second floor. Because stairs are very high. The most important thing for us that they are dog friendly.

Apartment Gerda is on the fourth floor. So it’s difficult to come with heavy baggage. Shower is not in the best condition.

Central and comfortable, spacious apartment.

Lovely location, looking out over the river. Clean and spacious apartment. Comfortable beds. Easy check-in details with the keycode to access the key. Took us a while to find the right door as we were looking for a 'side entrance' instead of a door alongside (semantics, and it was late at night after a day of train travel!). Highly recommend.

Up a few flights of stairs. It's above a fish restaurant, but there were no cooking smells coming up to us, which was good.

Lovely apartment with great views.

There is much to like about this apartment. The location is excellent- close to shops and restaurants and the lovely old town but slightly away from the busy areas. The apartment is well laid out and has everything needed. It is bright and airy with great views from the window - watch the boats go by!

While the bed was very spacious the matress was too firm for us and the pillows too soft. This apartment is on the second floor and there is no lift.

Comfy

This is a perfectly located apartment, that is really well appointed and spacious. The living space is lovely and there is even a nice balcony/terrace to enjoy when the weather is nice. I would highly recommend booking into their restaurant downstairs - the food is excellent.

The check in instructions were a bit confusing (I received a message saying I would get the key info x2 days before and then actually found out you only get the info on the day - which was fine but just caused some stress when I hadn’t received when i was expecting). There is some street noise but nothing too bothersome.

Fantastic stay!! Great location and perfect for a group.

Loved the location as it had a beautiful view over the canal and was within walking distance to all main locations. There was very sufficient space for our group of 4 people and would comfortably accommodate 5 if needed. The staff at the restaurant below were very friendly and happy to store our luggage when we arrived early. Very neat, tidy, and well decorated. Would highly recommend!

Lovely stay at a well positioned property. Beware of steep stairs however.

The apartment had plenty of space and never felt cramped. It was comfortable to relax in and everything worked. The apartment felt cared for.

The stairs were not great after a day of walking around - nor for the slightly older of our group. If felt like the floors needed a bit more regular cleaning. There wasn't a huge amount of cutlery or crockery.

Historical beauty with magical views!

This apartment was absolutely lovely! The layout was fun; my children loved having their rooms upstairs! The views from every window are stunning. It was magical to lookout over the river and to be so close to the Harbour Night performance. My husband and I walked down there for a little date night while the kids watched a movie. The location was wonderful. We parked in a lot near the Holstentor gate and walked over. The whole town center area is easily walkable, even with 4 children. The Christmas markets in town only added to the magic! We loved our stay and would highly recommend Riverside Apartments to all!

Floors are incredibly creaky and noisy. Apartment is on 2 floors with very steep stairs up to 2 of the bedrooms. But what can you expect from a historic building!

Magnificent apartment, we highly recommend.

We were so happy with this very roomy, stylishly furnished apartment with modern kitchen that was easy to cook in and had everything we needed. The bedrooms were huge compared to what we have come to expect in Europe. Perfect location; an easy walk from the train station and central to everything Lubeck has to offer. Check-in and check-out both easy and the apartment was warm and quiet.

Fantastic apartment, which has everything you need. Klothilde had plenty of space and is quite cosy, the beds are comfortable and the cleaning was good. The staff in the restaurant below was very kind. We will definitely come there again and stay more days.

We were not warned that the stairs up to the apartment were very steep, my wife has limited mobility and this was a problem as the apartment was several flights up. The mattresses were rock hard and extremely uncomfortable especially for my wife who has a bad back. There is also at lot of traffic noise as it is in the centre.

place is ok but the way to relax in the room is not because we could not bring luggage at the place.

The location and view from the place is great, very good location near Bremen historic place. The room is huge and all equipment needed is available. plenty of space.

there is no elevator available, not convenience for traveler who has luggage. we decide to leave luggage in the car and take only what we need up. We can not carry all 5 luggage to 4th floor. bathroom door knob was broken, very difficult to use the bathroom.

A great place to stay in Lübeck

The apartment we had, Klothilde, is huge (there were only two of us) and very well equipped. It was very quiet, had a very useful washing machine and drying rack, and even a second toilet! Everything was perfect in terms of practicality and location (easy and pleasant river side walk to the Holstentor and numerous restaurants). We parked for free at the end of Willy Brandt Allee in the Media Docks area (there's paid parking on the same road but if you keep driving to the end, it's free—and was secure for us). The whole Old Town is very walkable so you won't need your car.

The apartment's furnishings are a bit tired and old fashioned, and our apartment was two levels up (no lift). I would stay again though as it was otherwise excellent and well priced.

The location is superb, the apartment is tastefully decorated, it is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. The check-in and checkout was so smooth, we even got a sweet baby cot after I requested it after our arrival. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Spacious, very clean, well equipped. Bed seemed hard, but was surprisingly comfortable. Very good communication with the host. Would definitely stay here again.
