Full marks for the view but villa could be better...

We were a party of 6 who booked both apartments for a week’s stay to attend a friend’s wedding. We had a mixed experience, with highs (the pool and the amazing view) and lows (no hot water for 2 days, crazy electrical appliances and tiny kettles). Firstly, what we loved: * The view of Lake Garda from the villa is stupendous. * It’s a reasonably peaceful location, with singing cicadas in the evening and gently clucking chickens in the morning. * The pool and jacuzzi, although not particularly warm, are great - especially the funky coloured pool lights. * Both apartments were clean, with comfy beds and high quality bed linen & towels. * The larger apartment was particularly well presented and fairly spacious. The outside areas are well tended and attractive including a brick built BBQ. * And you get the sun almost all day as the terrace is south-west-facing.

What we didn’t like: * The tiny kettles (just one small travel kettle per apartment) that don’t switch off automatically. * The crazy location of electrical sockets close to sinks and doorways. * The ants in the lower apartment. * The lower apartment is of a much lower standard and smaller - definitely could use a refurb. * The shower in the lower bathroom was useless - no more than a trickle. * The tiles around the pool were incredibly slippery; this and the changes of level around the terrace mean it’s not at all safe, especially for children. * We had no hot water for 2 days (although the owners were quick to respond and did get it fixed). * No provisions for washing up and only 1 tea towel for both apartments. We bought washing up liquid and cloths so the next guests should be ok, but given what the owners charge to stay there I would expect a small welcome pack of essentials. * No lights in seating area around the pool, which makes it dangerous once the light fades. Useful for potential guests to know: * There are a lot of steps - about 20 down from the road to the first apartment, and a further 23 steeper steps down to the second apartment. * You will probably need a car. It’s a 20-25 minute steep walk downhill to Malcesine. The road is twisty and full of blind corners. Local taxis are great - it varied according to the time of day but we paid €10/€15 one way into Malcesine for a standard taxi & €15/€20 one way for a 6-seater. * The address is number 55 and not 48 as appears in the listing. Would I stay there again? In the top apartment, yes; in the bottom, only if they fit a new shower.

Die Gastgeberin freundlich und hilfsbereit beim einchecken und auschecken. Die Lage war exzellent: Supermärkte, Seeufer, Innenstadt von Malcesine - alles fußläufig erreichbar. Und der Ausblick von Haus bzw. Terrasse war spektakulär.

Das einzige kleine Manko war der fehlende Geschirrspüler, aber darauf waren wir eingestellt, da es der Beschreibung zu entnehmen ist.
