A wonderful hotel standing strong in a neighborhood forgotten by politics.
The room was clean and comfortable. It included a small fridge for keeping beverages cool and an electric kettle with complimentary tea provided by the hotel. The bed was very comfortable, and the furniture appeared to be quite new. The bathroom was spacious and spotless, though the shower cabin was a bit small and the showerhead slightly worn.
The location was fine for me, as I used to live not far from the hotel. However, I did feel a bit uneasy about how the area has declined recently, especially when arriving by train. It’s not dangerous by any means, but it has become somewhat run-down, with several empty shops and a few homeless people around. Of course, this is beyond the hotel’s control, and the hotel itself remains excellent. Still, I think future guests should be aware of this in advance so they’re not taken by surprise.

It had old fashion charm. They even used actually keys. Once on the train, which is a few blocks away was 20 minutes from Hamburg Central Station

The staff is unbelievable friendly! The place is sparkling clean, there was no dust, no smell, no stains anywhere in the room, except on a plastic tray for the coffee and the water heater, someone had forgotten to clean it, but otherwise probably the cleanest place I have ever stayed at.
Everything makes an incredibly cheap impression, the carpets and the walls in the floors have discolouration and stains. There is no elevator, and the staircase (as in any old building) is steep, so don't come with heavy bags. The worst part for me: I stayed on my business trip and asked for a quiet room, since I had a very important meeting the next day, for which I hoped to prepare in the room and get some very needed sleep before it. My "quiet" room was facing a gas station and was next to a heavy road and a railway for cargo trains. I asked if there is an option to change the room, and I didn't get the impression that the staff was eager to really help me solve the issue. Then the only room which was mentioned which was facing the inner courtyard was a double room (which I refused to pay). So, solo travellers (as it is mostly the case on a business trip) will definitely need some very tight ear plugs for the night.
There is no internet. There is some hotspot platform they use, but both my browsers on both work laptops blocked the registration page as highly insecure, and didn't let me through, even when I tried to manually add an exception for the page. So I was relying only on the data plan of my mobile phone.
Last but not least: the reading light was not working, the ceiling light is the horrible hospital colour blue energy saving light and the light on the wall over the bed is no competition for a candle. Very "practically" there is no light on, above or around the desk. There were only two light fixtures in the room: the one on the ceiling and the one above the bedside table (which as mentioned, didn't make any contribution to the light situation in the room)

Friendly staff. The room had all amenities for a couple of days' stay. Easy to reach from the city centre (25-30 mins by S-Bahn) and it was nice to experience another neighbourhood in Hamburg. se

Great value for money
Wonderful hotel, secure parking at a very cheap price, great location, really friendly staff and an absolutely excellent breakfast! We were going to a concert and chose this because of the location and price. We were pleasantly surpriced, everything was in great order.
The beds could have been a little softer, but they were perfectly acceptable.
