Quinta Atlantis

Für Koffer und Kleider war der Platz im Zimmer etwas knapp.

House keeper Eduarda was brilliant. Animals were lovely extra treat. Breakfast was excellent and wish we could have made more of everything. We were probably too busy to fully appreciate this house and all it had to offer.

Some services offered were not set up so well. Alcohol for example. Great to have on offer but not with the poor housekeeper having to come and get it out for you later on in the night.

This is a beautiful old quinta in a very scenic location up a narrow paved drive to a small rural village. The views of the ocean and surrounding bucolic hills are outstanding. There are nice outdoor seating areas and the interior of the house is open to guests. Eduarda, who was running the quinta in the absence of the owners, was extremely helpful with directions for local sites and very kind when my wife became ill. The quinta is about two miles up a steep hill from the town where the restaurants and services are located. A car is really a necessity.

The quinta is nice and well renovated. The room and the bathroom are clean, modern and big. The outside facilities look great, but due to the weather we couldn't cherish them. The staff is very, very friendly and helpful. Also the dog Laika and the cat Pluto are amazing, they love cuddling! The breakfast were very tasty with a good selection of breads, veggies, fruits, cheeses, charcuterie and jams.

The room we chose had a bathroom shared with one other room. However, we noticed that guests from other en-suite rooms were also using it. I assume they had not been informed that this bathroom was not a common bathroom for all guests. The room itself was spacious, but it was far too crowded with decorative items, to the point that there was almost no space to put our belongings on the shelves. It felt a bit like staying in a museum. We also missed having a proper wardrobe for our clothes. There were small cabinets and a small chest of drawers, but they were not very practical or comfortable to use. Most importantly, the room was not quiet. Breakfast starts at 8 AM, so you will probably be woken up by other guests or the staff, as the door lets noise in very easily. Another issue was some breakfast foods. We found mold in the shared jars of jams and dried fruits. This was unpleasant and raised concerns about hygiene. Lastly, the bed was too soft and slightly sagging.
