-Friendly staff
- Super location
-Lovely views
-Well kept gardens
-Good pool facilities
-Service at reception was slow at times and other reception staff were around but they did not support with queues
-We were told to place sign on door to have room cleaned but it was not done. We were told it would be done the next day (and it was on list to be cleaned) but late in afternoon house keeping knocked on door and said they had put stuff away and only just seen it! And it was not done as it should be.

The property is old and so the floor boards in the rooms around you creaked when people were walking around. The evening menu in the hotel restaurant was not great. Very limited. But it is just a 5 minute walk into town for more places to eat.

The staff were very friendly and the hotel is characterful. The swimming pool was a big plus for me. It is 15metres which allowed for some actual lengths. tHe location to the train station and town is very convenient and it was good to be able to park. I had a big bath in my room which was good.
Unfortunately, my room was adjacent to the main road and was only single glazed, so it was actually very noisy. If booking online, I would recommend phoniong the hotel and trying to choose a room away from teh main road.

Friendly staff, good location and grounds
Getting slightly dated. Walls quite thin so noise travels from one room to next.

Have stayed in the Cliffden many times with our doggy. We love the location and usually the rooms. The breakfast is lovely with a choice of eggs freshly cooked if you ask. Waitresses were super friendly.
We arrived to be told our evening meal (as we had booked half board) was booked in for 6pm. No choice given until the second night.
Booking.com had stipulated the room was in the garden area lower floor and we paid for a double club room for a slightly bigger more roomy experience, as we take our doggy with us. Unfortunately when we got to the room it was the smallest we had ever been given there and was on the 1st floor. It was very dusty behind the draws and the furniture felt on top of you. We explained to the receptionist that we had specifically booked a lower ground floor club room over the garden area of the hotel she denied this information was on their system from Booking.com.

single room was spacious with 2 windows, and everything I needed.
Would have like some gluten free bread or crackers at breakfast.

Comfortable 3* hotel with sea views and indoor swimming pool set in beautiful gardens just a short walk from the seafront. The staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend the hotel for exploring Teignmouth and the surrounding area.

The grounds and building are beautiful & the location is also very good!
The place was under renovation, there wasn't any heating (the staff provided small electric heaters) but didn't move us to another wing to avoid the noise.

Fantastic location, very friendly staff, great value breakfast, loved the view from the restaurant, easy parking, easy access to the main beach. Toasty warm in winter.
Lowish water pressure in the shower, we took a while to figure out how to get it hot enough. The bedroom window let in some drafts. The bedside lamps on the wall are a bit in the way of a person's head - perhaps the bed can be shifted a bit to the left or right.

Hotel is really overspec'd for the price. With huge grounds, well kept gardens, a bar, a restaurant, a swimming pool, a games room and very grand communal areas it feels like you are visiting a luxury retreat
The rooms are more reflective of the price which isn't a problem as such but there is just some disconnect with the other facilities

Nice grounds and location just up from the town centre and train
My room (5) is right next to the delivery area and bins and I was woken up very early

The room is clean and accessible, staff are friendly. Easy to stay for a couple of nights while visiting friends. Didn't have breakfast this time but I know it is normally good.
Rooms are very warm and parking is not the best, I always struggle to get a space and normally have to park outside the hotel.

We had a lovely stay, bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was very nice and freshly cooked. There was also a continental breakfast if preferred. Plenty to choose from.
We would definitely recommend a turn in the grounds.
We walked around the grounds looking at the different trees and plants. then it was time for some lunch. We had a jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise it also came with a salad . it was a really good jacket, Very tasty.

The reception, maintenance & breakfast staff are 1st rate. They really make a big effort.
The location was outstanding.
The parking & ground are excellent.
Breakfast is good.
Beds are great & clean.
The pool is excellent.
I would add to the positives that despite our specific dislikes, there's huge potential at this Hotel. I would probably go back & see if it was just bad luck / timing.
Complimentary bottle of wine with dinner was appreciated.
The rooms we had, overall, are tired & need to be cleaner.
Very odd bed lighting. 2x uplighter reversed to shine down the pillows but no beside lamp...way to bright for lighting the bedside area or reading. No bedside lamp..quite odd. We did ask.
The room had no working radiator in bathroom.
We got told that after enquiring, but then, we could not dry our room towels so left them on the floor.
But our room wasn't cleaned the next day, so our towels were not changed...& we couldn't dry them! Not a big fail, but not ideal.
The hotel kindly left a complimentary bottle of white wine at dinner. This was a lovely touch. My wifes Spinach Burger was good. My BBQ & Bacon burger was quite horrendous. If that poor thing in the bun was "Wagyu" then I'm sorry for the Bull that gave its backside for that meal...

The floorboards from the above rooms make a lot of noise.

The location was perfect, could park the car and leave it for the whole stay, easy access to beach front and Teignmouth town.
Breakfast - limited availability of full English, arrived for breakfast at 7:45, advertised as quietest time to visit and only sausages and tomato available, after several visits to see if been topped up still no bacon or egg, left at 8:25 still all items not available.
Very hot - we found our room to be uncomfortably hot especially during the night, heating wasn’t on so had to have windows open but our room was on the main road side which disturbed our dog.
