Excellent location for the town and well presented hotel, with welcoming staff
Staff were very pleasant, The breakfast was excellent. The hotel has been refurbished well.
The room heating didn't work, neither the towel rail and fan in the bathroom.

What a really lovely experience
From the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel incredibly welcome. Check in couldn’t have been better and the lady managing the restaurant in the evening was charming, as were the lads behind the bar. The Lion Hotel is an incredibly stylish establishment and obviously much loved locally as it was really busy and had a great atmosphere. The food at dinner and at breakfast the following morning was well presented and delicious. We stayed in the ‘Chesil Beach’ room which was beautifully furnished with a French twist. The bed was really comfortable. We were impressed with all the little touches. Both still and sparkling water were provided, there was plenty of milk to go with the coffee bags along with a cafeteria and tea pot and anything and everything you could possibly need in the way of bathroom products. The shower was great too. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again soon. Many thanks.

Comfortable, quirky hotel and I’d definitely stay again.
Breakfast was very good but service was a bit slow. Loved the little ‘goodies’ placed in the bedroom, eg dental care and the drinks basket was well stocked.
My only small criticism is a shelf in the bathroom would be useful as there is nowhere to put our personal toiletries.

In my room, (Brownsea Island) the very dark colour of the walls and woodwork were not good for a room with such limited natural light, just the two small Velux windows. The style of the room was superb, and the colour would work in a bigger room with more natural light. Even maybe a contrasting light colour on the biggest wall.

I enjoyed the tranquil space in the room and in the pub. The decor is beautiful and gave my stay a lovely ambience. Love the bath! There was tonnes of hot water and my stay was very restorative and restful. I will stay again.

Weekend stay
The whole hotel is lovely, staff is polite. A wide range of continental and cooked breakfast is available. The rooms are clean and cozy. Coffee, tea in the rooms.
The steep stairs leading to the top floor should be mentioned to customers prior to booking we have friends that would not have managed to get up there.
