My stay at Black Penny was absolutely wonderful The villa was beautiful, clean, and well organized and it was perfect for two people It included a lovely private pool with a stunning view that made the stay even more special The breakfast was extremely delicious and truly exceeded my expectations The staff were amazing, friendly, and very helpful throughout the stay Overall, it was a relaxing and memorable experience and I would definitely love to visit again

Unfortunately stained the sheets via rose petals. Happy to pay for this however $100AUD was steep! Also check-in is very long winded and drawn out, this could be done more efficiently as you’re excited to reach the destination. Perhaps sending through passport via WhatsApp or booking platform to ensure smooth & speedy checkin.

Overrated and over priced. Not worth the money at all. Even the view can be found at other hotels.

Only view is amazing, but that’s only until sunset. After that, nothing can be seen at all.

Ants, fogs, lizard, other animals which I only could here their voices was inside the room. I have stayed for 2 nights thinking this will be the best stay but ended up with the worst stay. After the first night I told them about the ants and all, they said there an scheduled fog spray. However, nothing changed in the second night. In both nights we had the plates from dinner left inside the room, in the morning we found the ants and mosquitos are having fun on the plates. Even the floating breakfast, it was full of ants which clearly shows that they are not cleaning properly not even before serving. Only 1 staff could speaks good english, everyone else didn’t understand a word other than ok. Pool didn’t have heater, so the pool was redundant, you can stay in the pool for maybe half an hour, then you will be freezing. Note that to reach the room you need to go down some steps. Not easy access at all. Not 100% private, there are so many exposed locations especially the bathroom, can be easily seen from anyone who comes close to wall at the steps (area between both room)

Stunning views, lovely staff

The staff were friendly and attentive. They greeted us by our names which was lovely. It was so easy to organize a driver, massage etc. The views are stunning. The food was excellent.

Not recommended compared to the price. Way below the expectations.

View is amazing, food was perfect. We tried the candle night dinner and everything was perfect about it.

All jungle animals can easily go inside the room. The room had so many ants we also saw a gecko on the roof just above the bed. The floating breakfast basket had so many ants which means it was dirty and not cleaned properly before they served to us. Only reception woman speaks good english, all others can only understand couple of words. Although view was amazing, but that’s only during day time, after that nothing can be seen at all. On both nights we heard frogs and other animal voices just outside our room roof or next to our pool (within our area), although they said they did fog spray, but nothing changed at all. They said that they change and clean the towels but the towels was not clean and there is a dark spots.

The only downside to the property is that there is no lift. It was a long and steep walk up and down from the villa to the reception every time. Also, the bathroom was open which meant rain and other things could come inside.

I don't think the villas could be accessed without taking stairs, which for us was fine, but a Watford for anyone with any mobility concerns. More access to bottled water would also help

Heaven in ubud

Amazing attention to service. The staff is incredibly nice and will go the extra mile for you. The view from our terrace / swimming pool and the restaurant on the forest was so relaxing , even when the weather was not the best. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant everyday , we enjoyed some excursions organized by the hotel and we enjoyed a massage at a sister hotel. The furniture and decoration goes very well with the vibe of Ubud. I recommend without hesitation for a couple or even with a friend if you look for peaceful and relaxation

Amazing property that blends into its surroundings

*Staff*: All staff was very friendly, helpful, and created a nice atmosphere for us! We got to hear a lot of stories from reception staff and the people in charge with Room special decorations are extremely attentive to details! - *Room*: Pictures are absolutely honest. It looks amazing (seems like a local, high class home). The view was absolutely incredible! The amenities were great. It was very clean, but be mindful of the fact that you are in the middle of the jungle. This means it's beautiful, but also that the wildlife is very close by. We loved it, but take this into consideration. And bring ear plugs for the night. - *Pool area*: Infinity-style, and the fact it is built on a cliff creates an even better illusion of connection with valley/jungle. The view is stunning! You can see the rice field below, if you have one of the lower villas. - *Food*: We always eat as local or regional as possible, and the food we tried here was very tasty and beautifully presented. - *Position*: It takes 20-40 mins to get to Ubud center. The hotel provides a free shuttle, twice a day. Also note that the cliff positioning creates a need to go up and down a lot of steps. We believe it provides the opportunity for some much-needed, healthy movement - but some might consider this an issue. This same positioning gives the lovely views mentioned before, so it's worth it!

A dreamlike place

Black Penny Villa is the best accommodation I have ever stayed in my life. It's a wonderful place, surrounded by jungle, and with friendly, approachable employees. The experience has been incredible, and staying at Black Penny is like a dream come true. We will definitely stay at this fantastic place again.

The villas are outdated; the villa’s pool is not cleaned daily; the bathroom is practically outside, no door; a lot of bugs, mosquitoes, worms inside the villa because of the free spaces between inside and outside:); the towels are outdated; the villas are outside Ubud, who is saying that will take less than 40 mi. to reach the center of Ubud is lying.

-at first day we wanted to relax after long trip, but there was some problem with electricity. Staff tried to fix it in our room, so we were forced to wait even we simply wanted to sleep. -we were here at out honeymoon, it’s the one hotel that didn’t prepare even a small surprise. -staff trying to be very friendly and polite, but often it’s difficult to communicate in english
