Villa Almoezia Charming B&B

A very charming place to stay up on the hill overlooking Taormina and the sea below. Room was modern and charmingly decorated and functional. I was there during a hot summer spell, and the A/C worked great. The owner/caretake was extremely friendly and helpful and communicated well in advance of my stay to coordinate my arrival. The place features a wonderful terrace with fabulous views.

My only complaint was that only street parking is available and it could be challenging. When I arrived, only one space on the street near where the B&B was located was available, so I got lucky. I recommend that a description of potential overflow street parking locations be provided in case one arrives and no nearby parking space is available. This is not at all a complaint, but a reality that must be understood. I am physically fit, enjoy walking, and welcomed the challenge and workout of traversing the steep concrete path with many stairs down to the Taormina resort town area and then back up. This path is only a very short distance from the B&B, which is super convenient. I did the down and back up round trip as many as two times in a single day. But since it is on the order of 500 vertical feet of elevation down to the town, if one is not physically fit or up for the relatively long and steep walk, one would either need to drive down into town to a parking location to visit the town center area or utilize a taxi or ride-sharing service to get down to town and back.

A challenging drive but well worth it

What a fun spot high above Taormina and out of the tourist tsunami. It’s on a safe road at the Madonna of the Rick church carved out of stone and the castle overlooking the harbor. It’s 740 steps, 20 minute walk down with spectacular views. Easy transport up the hill the bus or taxi stop on our street. Same street, excellent high end restaurant with knock out views. Enjoy!

The accommodation has an old-school charm, and I don't have any issues with it being old as it adds to its authenticity, but it should be better maintained.The room temperature is pleasant for sleeping, but unfortunately, the bed is incredibly uncomfortable and there are mosquitoes and flies.The garden could be beautiful, but it is not maintained, so one has to constantly avoid branches on the way to the room or the pool.View from the pool, as I mentioned in the title is AMAZING.Sebastian is really trying to be a good host. He gave us good directions to navigate Taormina. What's great is that there are stairs nearby that lead to the city center in 15 minutes. Right next to it is a cable car that takes you to the beach. It's easy to return by bus, although the last one is at 9:50 PM, but it was enough for us.

Only plastic cups are available in the apartment, which is a bit disappointing if you want to drink wine.The hairdryer is so old that even with the best intentions, my girlfriend couldn't dry her hair. The pool isn't lit by night :( And the WORST part by far, there are a lot of cats on the property. I love animals, so it was really difficult for me to see cats in urgent need of veterinary care, such as sterilization (there are so many young cats), and flea treatment, one cat has a leaking eye, and two small kittens look quite sick.
