Lovely grounds and main building. Fast internet.

A little dated and tired. Eg; several locker door hinges in change room broken. Dining room decor. No air conditioning. Opening the bedroom windows, the hinges creaked and ground.

Such a beautiful hotel. The staff was Amaizing. The food the coffee. The staff were so so helpful. Definitely going back as did not have the time to explore all of the grounds. Will definitely go back

The bathroom shower cover was not working properly so had to dry up the floor every morning but the cleaning staff were so so helpful and gave us enough floor towels to dry it up. Only fault!

Beautiful building and lovely grounds.

It was a very long journey to our room up and down many staircases and long corridors. No lift was available and we had to lug our cases up and down stairs. The receptionist when we checked in did not warn us of this. Perhaps it is my fault that I didn’t look at reviews before I booked! The hotel is quite dated, particularly the bedrooms and bathrooms. Everything was clean, but I didn’t fancy having a bath because the plug hole surround was discoloured and the tile grouting looked old and grubby. The first room we were given had an ill fitting shower screen and so when we had a shower, the bathroom floor flooded. We asked to be moved and were moved to a bigger room with a better bathroom, although this was a disabled access room because it had a lower sink and low bath and red cords next to the bed and in the bathroom. Although goodness only knows how anyone in a wheelchair would’ve been able to access the room up and down all those stairs! Also, I appreciate that historic buildings like this don’t have air-conditioning, but really if that’s the case, then a good quality tower fan should be installed in each room and not the small desk fan that was provided. If our summers are going to continue to be this hot, then I fail to see how a hotel like this will continue to attract guests in the summer months as the rooms were stifling. We ate in the brasserie restaurant on our first night and the food was quite a good standard and the service was also good. The The ambience is a little lacking though because like the rest of the hotel, it is somewhat dated and the furniture and decor is functional rather than stylish.
