Hotel stay was excellent.

I was charged £105 instead of £79 which was quoted when I originally booked the reservation. The staff said they could not do anything about the discrepancy in price as I had booked via booking.com. I don't know why this wasn't the advertised fee.

The staff! One in particular Anna Holliday was very rude in front of my children threatened to throw my children on the street but allowed other children to stay in the bar that wasn’t even staying at the hotel her whole manner about the situation was disrespectful

The price is right - for what you get.

The hotel had a pool. The pool area was ok, a bit dated. Leisure centre staff were lovely. The bar staff were nice. Bar staff in particular, very nice.

The hotel is quite dated, despite some cosmetic upgrades to the room and the communal areas (lobby) etc, the windows in our room were the old school aluminium windows and were covered in condensation. The curtains on our room are hanging off in parts. The wardrobe was dusty, a lamp didn’t work, carpets were old - they didn’t feel ok to walk barefoot on. The room smelled like stale alcohol. It also seemed like there were some permanent residents living in the hotel. This was a quick overnighter to stay somewhere close to Newcastle with a pool. I’m sad to say, even at that, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The disabled ramp at the front enterance needs attention as we feel it is two steep not wide enough and at the bottom where the ramp reaches the road there is not a smooth run off.

Location was excellent, breakfast was excellent

The room was very disappointing. The 2nd time staying here first time was great, and this time was a tiny small room. Bed was uncomfortable and squashed in between 2 bedside tables. Floor boards creaked very loud. The table and hanging wardrobe were both very unstable. It was all just disappointing after our lovely first stay. It's a very convenient hotel visiting family. But we will not be staying here again.

Excellent - can't wait to come back!

We all slept the best we have slept in ages! Rooms have everything you need. Request for rooms next to one another was actioned and the adjoining door was opened within 10 minutes of asking so we felt all together. Staff couldn't have done more for us. Facilities, food and settings were all excellent. Second time we've been and one member of staff was there during our last stay and remembered us and said it was lovely that we'd come back! With the amount of people they must see it really meant a lot that they remembered us.

On the whole a comfortable stay for us, having attended the wedding at the same hotel that afternoon

Generally the hotel accommodation was good.

Staff were not interested in assisting with early check-in in spite of explaining that we had travelled some 400 miles to attend a wedding reception at the same hotel and that it would be convenient for us (being the wedding guests) to have some where to dress up. We were advised that as guests of an event at the hotel, we would be given preferential rates - but this did not happen. We paid the standard internet rate!!!

The staff were good and helpful.

The hotel's heating system is switched on only early morning and in the evening for limited hrs and therefore room gets cold during the breaks when the heating is not on. The shower is ordinary compared to other 4 star hotels, at least we have been to.

The room was adequate - but a little in need of update. The restaurant food was good, but staff seemed a bit overworked/understaffed. Reception were pleasant. Only one lift was working during our entire 2 night stay.

To be honest, not much

Realising that the hotel was busy, however the staff were quite dismissive. Quality of service was poor Breakfast was overbooked and we had to wait in the queue for about 30 minutes to get food and drink There was no heating in the bedroom. It was freezing!

Disappointing, wish I’d have booked elsewher!

Free parking is always a bonus, however the car park there is horrendous! Very small spaces, cars parked all over the place. Not what I expect from a £150 per night hotel.

The hotel has a function suite which had music thumping away all night. So much so that my partner and I had to move rooms. Hotel restaurant isn’t open in the evenings so if you want something to eat the only option is the bar or room service. Luckily there is a pub across the road “falcons nest” which is reasonably priced and has really nice food. The hotel is advertised as a spa hotel, yet unlike other spa hotels you have to pay extra to use the leisure facilities on a day rate. The Grand Hotel Sunderland is much better and is similarly priced.
