The room was fine other than a leak under the sink, the guy on reception said he would do what he could to get us checked in early it was 1.58pm check in was 2pm when I pointed this out he said they had been busy yesterday but did manage to get a room for us, if he had been a little curtious and said sorry it won’t be long then great no problem but to say we were early by 2 minutes is a little naff

The hotel is ideally situated for us to visit family north of Newcastle. The hotel and staff are wonderful and there is free EV charging there (4 units, so first come …) There are good links by metro into Newcastle if needed. We have stayed here at least 4 times and will always continue to do so

We were upgraded to a junior suite. Not a huge room but very quiet. The room looked into an internal atrium so there was absolutely no traffic noise. The room was well appointed and clean. The big bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was basic but fine. For first time visitors (like us) the entrance to the car park is almost impossible to find.

The staff were very friendly and the decor was lovely throughout the hotel. The hotel was clean and lots of extras in the room e.g dressing gowns. Furnishings are comfortable. The blackout curtains did not block out the light because they are set too far from the wall so there’s about a 6 inch gap on each side of the curtains allowing the room to flood with light in the morning. Similarly, the “soundproof” rooms are certainly not that. I could hear lots of conversations from even across the hall in the morning. Personally also found the mattress too soft, but this is a personal preference and everyone cannot be satisfied.

From the minute i checked in i felt at home, this was our second visit to gnh and as before everything was perfect while we was there there was a wedding being held there even though they had a party downstairs in one of thier function rooms we never heard a thing, our only bugbear is that the room that we stayed in could do with better lighting!. Stayed here for The Great North Run. Staff very friendly. The staff laid out food for the runners on the morning of the race. Loved the hotel. Nice food. Good location. Easy to get to town centre. Bus and metro within walking distance. We were upgraded which was a lovely surprise. Definitely stay there again

This is my 2nd stay at the Great North Hotel. Both times I have found the hotel to be in great condition with spacious, comfy rooms and very friendly staff. I was not competing myself but was lovely to see snacks and water left out for the runners of GNR. Would recommend to friends.

The staff- especially louise- were very helpful and polite. My room had a very distinct odour from the bathroom in which Louise sorted out straight away. The hotel was quiet and clean. Being only over the road from the golf course it was a fabulous base.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Seamless process. Great parking facilities. Received the warmest of welcomes by their truly dedicated staff. Quality fixtures, fittings and facilities. Lovely shower, ethical toiletries. Really comfortable bed. I honestly cannot recommend Great North Hotel highly enough and can wait to return. 5 star establishment at 3 star prices!! Phenomenal!!
