Rockhal hostelling!🤘🏻

Very friendly,helpful staff.This place is bright,spacious,welcoming,extremely well kept,excellently located right beside the train station and only one stop from the Rockhal.You cannot fault the price because it is great value given it's location.The breakfast is basic but inclusive. My only complaint,and it's a bit silly,but the bar closes at 11pm.Four of us arrived back from a concert at the Rockhal by train at 11:05pm and couldn't get served a drink before going to bed.We all thought this was a bit petty and too strict especially has we hadn't been drinking at the concert and we were not loud or drunk.We had been looking forward to a relaxing drink and chat about the days events but instead we all had to go to bed straight away.This eill not stop me from returning for future concert stays.

Not being allowed to buy a beer at 11:05pm after returning from a concert at the Rockhal by train.The staff could have been a bit more lenient towards us given we couldn't get back any sooner due to the train timetable.It was a sour note to end a great day on.

A nice and clean place to stay!

Everybody was exceptionally nice, and the breakfast (a very good one!) was included in the price. The bedside lamps are very convenient, the rooms are tidy and spacious. The hostel is right next to the train and bus station, yet the place is quiet, and the noise from the transit is nonexistent.

Unfortunately, the lighting in the bathroom was impossible to switch out (it only switched out by itself, which may take as long as 10–15 minutes, and was not very convenient at night). The blinds on the window were not 100 % satisfactory as well: our room faced the boulevard, and there was a huge advertisement screen right in front of our windows, whose aggressive blinking light the blinds did not completely block.

Value for money for sure.

The hostel is right next to the main bus stop, which is very comfortable. The rooms are big enough. They were getting cleaned every day so I enjoyed that part. The bathroom was big too. The breakfast was good too.

I think the railway station sound might be an issue if you want to sleep peacefully.

Good for a one-night stay

Great location (we came for a concert at the Rockhal, so it was very convenient). Dinner was pretty good (cordon bleu) and reasonably priced (also free water) and the person who served us was very nice. This was our first Luxembourg Youth Hostel experience so we didn't realise we needed to make our own beds etc but we didn't mind this at all, it's a good idea and you are given a packet with clean sheets and a pillowcase at reception. Reasonable shower.

If you don't have a valid ID card, don't forget your passport!! We read the information given (bring own towel, toiletries etc) but there was no mention of ID being needed. We live in Luxembourg so don't carry our passports all the time and we were only saved here by the fact that my husband had photos of our passports on his phone. Lux driving licence wasn't accepted. Breakfast was disappointing, poor choices of cold food and there were no warm options. not even a boiled egg... Pillows were uncomfortable.

Best location, worst bed distribution method

Staff is ok, perfect location, right next to the train station and bus stop. 4-bed rooms are really great for a hostel. Spacious locker, bring your own lock. Make your own bed style hostel, they give you fresh sheets at the reception.

Really basic breakfast (coffee is the worst in the 'bar') and unfortunately they cannot control the bed distribution in the rooms, so if someone takes yours after you made it and put your staff on it to make it obvious, they cannot and will not do anything, at least in my case they haven't done anything. Really uncomfortable experience especially after coming back to your room at night. Definitely something to be improved. If this doesn't happen, they would have gotten a higher score.

You can get towels in the reception with a 10 euro deposit. But we did not know, so it took us some time to discover it.

Perfect!

The room was large and bright, and the proximity to the train station (you could see it from the big window) was not a problem and the room was quiet. The whole place was super clean, the train station is next door, as is the bus station, and there are links to a lot of places. The breakfast buffet was really nice too.

Comfy YH next to Esch Gare

This hostel was a pleasant surprise. Given that Lux is usually expensive compared to Germany, this youth hostel offers a fair price especially for single travellers. Next to the train station, very friendly welcome and support by the staff, female 4 bed dorm, very clean and neat, comfy bed, enough storage and hooks for stuff, toilet & shower separate. Did not hear any neighbouring rooms. Nice terraces on first and second floor. Did not try the restaurant, but the prices seemed okay. Would stay here again.

Breakfast could have a few more options (like boiled eggs, veggies, mini croissants, vegan things like hummus), especially because you cannot opt out. But it was okay

On hot days, they really need to provide a fan for the rooms. It was very hot one of the nights I was there - couldn’t sleep! There is no AC.

A good hostel to stay in for a night or two

Good location, comfortable beds, clean

Very noisy — the windows face directly onto the train station. Bring earplugs. No soap at all — not even anything to wash your hands with, which is hard to justify. I would prefer having soap included in the price rather than breakfast. Also, I would like to have curtains by the beds for more privacy.

Great location that has a history. Amazing staff that were very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend (except for the breakfast).

the breakfast was extremely bad. only basic stuff - bread, corn flakes, musli, fruits - were provided and everything tasted stale or cheap quality. only Nutella and yogurt saved it. worst way to start your day.

Valuable with good service

Good: just next to train station and good connection to city Center. Also, a bridge goes to the park and minet trail. Ecological, so no soap to wash hand. Spacious, big locker, a desk and chair in room. Good staff and simple and basic breakfast which is valuable to the room rate. Bad: because it’s just next to train station, it will be noisy but I have ear plug so I am good to sleep.

Central Hostel for a comfortable accommodation

Hostelling International Esch/Alzette Youth Hostel warmly welcomes everyone to its new building near the main train station. The hostel staff is highly professional and speaks several languages to accommodate individual needs. The beds are very comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. The private five-bed room has its own toilet and shower. Lockers and a small table are provided. The hostel has a restaurant and bar with delicious dishes, including a fresh organic salad buffet and a soup of the day at an affordable price. The breakfast buffet closes at 9 a.m.

very close to the train and bus station. the room has its own toilet and shower, which is nice. the restaurant is very nice, good coffee and food. it looks a bit far away from the centre on the map, but if u take the train/bus it takes u less than an hour.
