Chandy’s Windy Woods was well located with a beautiful view from the outdoor restaurant terrace and the bedroom balconies. We breathed a huge sigh of relief upon reaching the property where it was 25 degrees F cooler than in Kochi. The hotel offers many free activities including a walk through the tea plantation, a cooking demo, and tea time in a subterranean artificial shack. The latter is strangely located beneath one of the hotel blocks and can only be reached by the path that winds through the artificial waterfall construction. Give it a miss. The cooking demonstration, on the other hand, was excellent! Pradeep, Prasad, and chef Karthik were wonderful and treated us to a cooking demo both nights, allowing us to cook and eat the fruits of our labor. If you do this and like spicy food, make sure to tell them, as if you are not Indian they will assume that you don’t, resulting in a rather bland dish. The chicken biryani that we ordered for dinner the first night was properly spiced and absolutely delicious. A huge plus of the hotel is the game room, where we played ping pong, pool, and foosball.

The layout of the hotel must have been designed by a sadist. Switching elevators every block is quite cumbersome and the labels don’t necessarily correspond to the signage in the corridors. If it were up to us, we would eliminate the artificial waterfall and the accompanying annoying animal/bird sounds. The second night there was loud music from the restaurant terrace, but after complaining a few times the shut it down.

Good location; good hospitality

Property was quite clean.

Driving to the property was a bit confusing. Parking and unloading was challenging. Moving from one location to another inside the building was confusing. The person answering questions before my arrival was not cooperative to the special request.
