La Portuguesa Apartments

The apartment is in a what seemed to be a very quiet residential block with mostly locals - it is not a party house so be mindful of that if you're a group of young people wanting loud music. The apartment was huge, with plenty of space for lots of suitcases, a pushchair or even a wheelchair if you need one! Apartment, towels and bedding were all clean and fresh. The bed was firm but comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped and clean and hot water was plentiful. We were on a big 5 week trip so the washing machine was very handy! Initially dissapointed that we didn't have a sea view, it was nice and quiet inside the apartment as it was at the back of the property overlooking the quieter back lane, a real solice away from the hubbub just outside the front door which is on the main throughfare and immediately opposite the beach. The beach was very busy but we still found a spot and the water was beautifully warm and inviting. There's a few restuarants and shops for essentials very close and it's just a short stroll to the rambla and all it has to offer in one direction and the Santa Bàrbara Castle in the other. This location would be hard to beat and we would return if we ever come over this way again.

There's nothing noteworthy enough to say we didn't like it. Everything was great.

The shower had a shower curtain, not glass.

The apartment was very clean. The staff were fabulous, and an issue with a missing kettle was resolved promptly. The room was a very good size. The location was fantastic.

No net curtains to aid privacy. This was a major issue. People on the street could see directly in. The rooms are sandwiched in between a couple of busy roads, so there was road noise, but it was a worthwhile compromise for the location. The rooms do require updating, but that is reflected in the price rate. Although there was one air con heater, it was always quite cold.
