The location for us was great.

They put us in a handicapped room. The room itself was spacious comfortable and clean, but the bathroom was horrible . An open shower, a toilet and a sink. Absolutely nowhere to put anything, not even a towel! The grouting in the bottom of the shower was black, not inviting at all. The parking (payant) you had to go to the main hotel to get an elevator or go outside and walk down to the parking. Disappointed…

The hotel’s facilities, particularly the rooms and breakfast area, feel dated and would benefit from a thoughtful refurbishment to bring them up to modern expectations. Service delivery was inconsistent. A more welcoming and customer-centric approach from the staff would significantly enhance the guest experience. At check-in, I was unexpectedly asked to authorise an additional €100 per night. No clear justification was provided beyond a vague comment about ensuring guests have sufficient funds, which did not inspire confidence. Breakfast was adequate but unremarkable. It does the job, but it doesn’t elevate the stay in any meaningful way. Given the overall condition of the hotel and the level of service provided, the price-to-value ratio falls below par. With some investment and a renewed focus on hospitality, the hotel could more credibly deliver on its stated star rating.

Overal good stay

Pretty good spa facilities overall.

A bit overly zealous in rules enforcement. First, we arrived at 10:30 and there was nothing to eat the restourant was closed, so we got pizza and tried to eat it with some drinks at the bar, since it was the only working venue. We were told that it is forbidden so fine, so we ate it in the room. The next day, after sightseeing the whole day, we went to the pool before closing and got some drinks. We left the glasses at the lobby just outside the indoor pool. We didn't bring them into the actual pool zone. Never mind, we were basically chased to return the glasses to the outside pool bar. The third thing was the small puddle of water before the main pool. We used the sleepers that were provided in the room to go to the pool, but again, we were immediately warned not to use them and take them off when going through the puddle. So the 3 situations were not particularly bad, but it looks more comic to try to enforce so strict rules in place for relaxation.

Our sink was clogged and you cannot control the aircondition - meaning that in 30 Celsius weather it was still too hot inside.

Nice hotel - could be better

Breakfast was expensive (€22 each), but there was an excellent selection of hot and cold food offered. Nice enough room. We caught the bus into the old town; easy to use and bus stop just across the road from the hotel.

Temperatures were searingly hot when we were there. We would have liked to use the outdoor pool but weren’t prepared to pay €45 each for the privilege. Quality of food at the bar not great

Time wharp building with great service

The reception staff were very helpful and efficient. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was very complete with many choices and great service. The bar downstairs is cool.

Inside the building it's obvious that it is dated around the 70s or 80 s and the rooms are like a nightmare of bad 70s décor recalling that famous "international Man of Mystery". But if that's what you like...yet the restoration is overdue. The bathrooms were old-fashioned.

The Metropole is a very pleasant place to stay, suitable for business and personal use.

The spa facilities were unexpectedly good -better than we had expected. The breakfasts were terrific. The staff were very helpful

We didn't have a car, so we had to undertake a lot of bus journies and taxi rides to get into the centre of town and back.

The only place we stay in Lyon!

We have stayed multiple times here due to the incredible pool and spa, and large, clean family rooms. This place has everything you need for a stay in Lyon in addition to great wifi, parking, and a very nice breakfast. You also get robes for the whole family to use at the pool and towels to bring there next door. The children loved the pool they could use and the adults loved the outdoor thermal baths and grotto pool. Book without any hesitation.

Nothing- note the bathing suit for men needs to be speedo type vs any other kind due to pool rules. They sell them at the store on site if you forget!

The Wi-Fi is terrible! 9mbs so not fast enough to stream Netflix etc The lifts are even slower than the Wi-Fi, the worst I’ve ever known! Sometimes waiting over 5 minutes for it to arrive after calling it The spa is very nice but it’s expensive at €45 per day. Most guests just want to sunbathe by the pool and the price is off-putting. This should be included and then maybe a chargeable upgrade for sauna and spa etc. There is no place to sunbathe without paying so it feels like they are forcing you to pay the extra charge which makes it poor value overall

The lifeguards at the pool. I was not aware that i had to wear a speedo to use the pool. Two of the lifeguards at the pool told me i needed to have a speedo. I asked them if i could wear a speedo under my shorts as the speedo they had at their shop was too small and uncomfortable. they said yes. Then i bought one for 37 euro. Then another of the personel refused me to use it beneath the shorts. Then later that day could see other people using normal swimming shorts with no problems. I booked this hotel because of their pool but to me the stay was not good. 2 days wasted

The pool and spa are wonderful, but very pricey. The hotel is extremely clean and well run. Staff are very helpful indeed.

There isn't really anywhere nice to hang out outside unless you pay for the spa. There is a small covered outdoor dining area but it's not like other hotels where it is easy to hang out in the open air. Drinks are quite expensive at 6 euros for a lemonade.

Nice but not worth the money

This was a second stay in just over a week. the first stay in the main building was great but this time we were put into a studio in an adjacent building. The room was very basic and nowhere near as nice as the comfort room in the main building. The room was smaller and didn't have the same facilities ( ie coffee machine ) as the room in the main building. The staff in the restaurant are very slow and not at all motivated. Nice but not good value

these days the weather hot up to 30c I took 2 rooms one of them the AC work other one doesn’t work I talk to staff to fix the AC they said no AC and switch off AC in other room ,,, unprofessional behaviour,, very noisy the room on street very bad experience
