VERY disappointing.

Breakfast was freshly cooked by staff in room. The only disappointment was the fact that there was no mention that the beach was closed. The owner has since added further info in her sales blurb. Access to the beach was forbidden, due to ongoing machinery moving rocks. The noise was VERY disconcerting and should have again been disclosed by the owner. The first night we had a rat run through the lounge room. Staff the following morning failed to locate it. The road noise would commence at 4:30am and was very loud in the master bedroom. Given the continuous major works, many critters would be displaced. We had a very large crab welcome us on the second morning. I released it back to the rock face. The owner commented that it was a little crab. “It wasn’t, and she didn’t see it”. Again another excuse. Overall, the staff were exceptional and very friendly. If it wasn’t for the machinery literally 3 meters from our pool, and a nicer owner I would rate this stay much higher. ***Late entry*** Due to owner’s reply! Given the owner’s lame excuse she replied with. I have lowered my rating even further… And made further comments above. At no time was there any notification that massive machines would be peering into our villa. Workers couldn’t help to look in when we moved around, or when we took the chance to have a relaxing swim or sun bake. It was quite unsettling. If the owner had of been upfront instead of being defensive and rude, we would have felt far better overall. Foot note: The locals spoke VERY poorly of the new Aussie owner. “That certainly says something”.

To be given the heads-up that major works were being undertaken, and that there was no beach access. VERY loud road noise from 4:30.

Luxury apartment that has everything you need inside and out!

The property was immaculately presented. The furnishings were stunning! Outside was gorgeous - daybeds and private pool. 10/10 will be recommending. It was cleaned everyday and the staff were lovely.

The transport that we used found it difficult to locate as it’s in the front of an older establishment. The water front works were a little inconvenient with trucks going past but this will only be temporary. The only improvement would I add would be to put a TV in the bedroom.

The property was just beautiful. We loved everything about it. Breakfast was available for us to order the night before but we opted out of that service.

Too bad that during our stay there was a construction going on the beach so we couldn’t access the beach from the property. It would be even better if there were fishing poles available for us to use.

Absolutely great

Great location very clean, bed was really comfortable and pool area was great. Fruit platter and bread on arrival was a nice touch, big fridge with a cooling water station was great

It wasn’t that we didn’t like the Outside bathroom it was that when it was raining you couldn’t use the toilet cause you would get wet. Also not great for when you have had a shower and your wife is trying to get ready with make up and her yet it was to humid to do so

Best in Candidasa

I was initially hesitant to write a review as I thought Id rather keep it a Secret! 🤫 Secrets Retreat is sooo beautiful!!.. (We actually changed our flights home to extend our stay!) Beautiful beachfront location, luxury interior design and private pool make it the perfect luxury getaway! (Previous guests have mentioned the construction of stone wall out front, to better explain this, it is a “Stone Walkway” that is being constructed the full length of Candidasa beach (minorly impacting “all” beachfront businesses).. This walkway does not impact the beautiful beach views at “Secrets” and when complete will provide a beachfront walkway direct to local restaurants and bars along the waterfront! Only a future plus for this venue!!

Bali Secrets is a Must Stay

My stay at Misha's wonderful paradise saved my entire Bali trip. She has created the most welcoming, luxurious and yet homely space. Her staff are so warm and friendly, and attentive beyond measure. I wanted for nothing, and the transport solutions they have are wonderful. I cannot wait to come back and am already planning my leave. Just perfect, thank you.

Relaxing

We had a wonderful stay and location on the ocean falling to sleep is so blissful. The villa itself is exquisite and we spent most of our time in the infinity private pool. The staff are so kind and also make a delicious breakfast in the villa.

Beautiful views although pictures did not match the reality a rock wall has now been constructed right out the front so no beach access. Staff were wonderful. Bathrooms are stunning. Pool was great although not enough space around the pool for lounges so we had bean bags..

The beds were way too firm for us. lucky massages are cheap as we needed one every day to correct our backs again. Wasn’t notified about sea wall or construction work during the day if in the villa you would hear the rock work ongoing not even 200metres away

Great stay

This villa had everything we needed for a relaxing escape. The area is calm and quiet, and the bed was really comfortable — we had great sleep throughout our stay. It’s also close to nice restaurants, which made going out easy

However, it was a bit disappointing that the beach was under construction during our visit. Instead of a sea view, we saw large rocks, and it wasn’t really accessible. Because of that, villa staff and other people often walked past the front of the villa, which affected our privacy a little.

Everything. Great place to chill out after a long day of travel. Recommend Lotus Seafood restaurant, almost next door. We like walking and there is a great walk to Tenganan village.

We booked for 3 however there wasn’t a 3rd bed on arrival late at night. Also not enough towels. Could have a coffee plunger and instructions for the safe. Our only complaint. Otherwise perfect!

Nice villa but far from a luxurious experience

We stayed in the two-bedroom villa, and the interior was beautifully decorated. The highlight for us was definitely the kitchen — it was a pleasure to cook in, well-equipped, and thoughtfully designed. We also really appreciated the extra touches provided throughout the villa, such as the complementary breakfast on the first day, cold drink and chocolate on arrival, the offer of complementary transport to virgin beach, etc. Misha was excellent with communication and explained everything clearly.

While the villa had many great qualities, there were a few things that negatively impacted our experience. The outdoor area — including the pool and terrace — felt quite narrow and enclosed, now that the villa doesn’t open onto the beach after the “pathway” has been built. Glass walls were added for privacy, but this made the space feel a bit claustrophobic compared to other 3 villas, which have open-plan terraces that offer a more spacious and breezy feel. Additionally, the path renovation in front of the villa has created a safety hazard directly in front of the villa. Perhaps this will be improved in the future. The new rocks/path means local people often gather directly in front of villa in the afternoons to fish or fly kites, which reduces the sense of privacy. Although Eka kept the villa clean and well-maintained, the welcome felt rushed and lacked the warmth we’ve come to associate with Balinese hospitality. Upon arrival, we were immediately asked to confirm the number of guests, and the welcome felt more like a routine task than a heartfelt greeting. Communication around small requests — such as replacing a broken coffee plunger — was initially met with hesitation, though eventually resolved after some persistence. There were also a few small details that fell short of a luxury experience, such as only providing shower gel (no shampoo or conditioner) and a general resistance to accomodate any additional little requests such as an extra item for the kitchen, etc.

Do not believe the pictures you see on the advertisements & front pages of the private villa. The private villa doesn't have a beach access in front as it is shown on the pictures. It was apprently the case before but now there are some construction work currently on-going which resulted with full shoreline filled with rocks, so there is no beachfront or ocean access from this villa. And we learned this the hard way after arrival and the owners didn't agree that all the advertisements and the pictures were misleading

Lovely touches fresh flower garlands on arrival and Fresh flowers everywhere. Fresh bread butter and jam. Beds comfiest I have ever slept in. Decor of villa and partial outside shower and toilet. Pool

I checked mini bar and knew exactly what was drunk as I don’t drink and kept all the bottles but there was a disagreement when we were leaving so I just left the money that I was told was due even though I didn’t agree but did not want any bad feelings as we had had a lovely time

Lovely villa

We stayed in the 1 bedroom Villa Cowrie. The villa is lovely and very well-equipped. The view out to the ocean from the pool is very relaxing (don’t expect a white sand beach, though. It is just rocks at the moment but this will no doubt change when the beach works are complete.) It was very nice to have a massage in the courtyard from the visiting masseuse, Luh. Ketut, the driver for the villa, was delightful and took us for a very good tour up to Amed and for a day at Virgin Beach.

If sleeping on your holidays is important, this may not be the villa for you. The air conditioner opposite the bed has an extremely bright light on it that illuminates the room and shines directly towards the bed. There are no curtains on the bathroom side of the bedroom, so the open bathroom roof and glass bathroom doors flood light into the bedroom at sun up, making a sleep-in difficult. It would be an easy fix to add some curtains that could be closed over the glass bathroom doors. Add to this a bed that was very firm for me and my sleep for the 4 nights we were there was poor. If you like a bit of sunbathing, the other 1-bedroom villa at Bali Secrets might be better, as all of the courtyard of Villa Cowrie is in shade and there was nowhere to put the sun loungers to catch a bit of sun.

Quite luxurious, modern and a great location. The bed was super comfy and the pool offered a cool dip on a humid afternoon. Love that it has a luxurious stone bath!

The Rockwell at the front. Such a shame and an eyesore. A fan would be handy of an evening on the veranda to help keep The bugs away. Also, wish the lights in the bathroom dimmed. Would create a lovely ambience when having a bath.

Ocean breeze greeting me as I arrived at this stunning villa and isn’t my first stay. Its immaculate features are stunning & attention to detail amazing. This is my favourite villa in bali and the staff are incredible and look after your needs and even make you breakfast.
