Villa Habanera. stylish tropical villa with private pool

This place is beautiful and exactly how the pictures depict. The pool is a perfect temperature to cool off from the hot humid heat at any time of the day. The landscaping around the property is absolutely gorgeous and picturesque. I would recommend this property to anyone with a few caveats we were not aware of until we were actually there: The lights for the outside and pool area are timed and turn off at 10pm and there is not way to turn them back on. There are security cameras outside, which is great! However, there was a security camera in the living area which had a view of the kitchen and dining area as well which felt like and invasion of privacy. This should be communicated with guests prior. The ceiling to floor doors do not have screens, so if you want to leave them open for air (it’s hot and there is not AC) bugs will come in. Normally this wouldn’t bother me, but I am pregnant and weary of mosquito borne illnesses. The doors to the backyard also do not lock well and on our last night, raccoons came in while we were sleeping and got into our food, tore the place up a bit and pooped in the pool. Make sure to lock the doors very securely at night! Our doors were locked from the top, but one was not locked at the bottom and raccoons are smart animals. This area is noisy with sounds from nature! Monkeys, rain, trees falling in the distance, things from trees falling into the house all hours of the day. Bring ear plugs or prepare to be woken up a lot

Enjoyed our stay. House beautiful, location great and nice pool. Positive enhancements would be floor vacuum for guests to use, washer/dryer as towels/clothes get dirty quickly and AC units in bedrooms as rooms get way too hot in summer to cool rooms. Thanks for the stay

The house is even more beautiful and larger than listed. The 12 of us were comfortable in the space; loved the huge table. However, the house lacked some very basic amenities such as light dimmers in the common area (kitchen, dining and living rooms). So it was either way too bright or dark. Master bathroom shower did not have any place to put shampoo, conditioner bottles or soap; had to put them on floor; nor did it have hooks to hang the towels after use. And even though, the master room would usually be for couples, the shower/toilet area lacked any privacy as it doesn't have a door between it and the closet next to the main area of the bedroom. The kitchen could very much use more pots, pans, utensils (we had 11 forks for 12 people). A dishwasher, although considered not a necessity sometimes, would also improve the guest experience. We spent a lot of time washing dishes for 12 people after each meal. These very BASIC, practical items and others seemed to have escaped the attention of whoever designed/built the house.
