Hotelinho Urca Guest House

Everything was perfect, start to finish. The staff greeted me with such warmth and professionalism. My room was very spacious: a full living room with fridge, a large bedroom and bath, windows all facing the bay. The furnishings were both unique in that there were many antiques and beautiful paintings AND everything was comfortable, including the bed and the big shower with great water pressure. The hotel is in a priceless location overlooking Guanabara Bay. The rooftop offers a wonderful view of the bay at sunset, with the Christ Redeemer statue at one end. There are actually 2 stories for the terrace: one with the adjacent indoor breakfast room (and wonderful array of fruit, juice, hot beverages, breads, pastries, savories, and eggs cooked as requested). The terrace itself also has seating and a dipping pool -- very inviting. I watched the sunset from the floor above. The location is also great in that there is a small, protected wonderful beach just minutes away (Praia Vermelha). There are also lots of restaurants, a full supermarket, coffee shops, and a wonderful sidewalk to walk along the bay. The area is right by Sugarloaf lifts (well worth doing). The tourism is focused there. /the neighborhood is very quiet and has a reputation for being especially safe. This is a very special hotel. Again, besides being a charming hotel, a wonderful staff, location, view.

The owner, Andreas, and his staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. The view from our window was beautiful, and the outdoor areas were lovely. The location was great. The breakfast was homemade and delicious.

Great location, very safe and amenities close by. Lovely helpful welcoming staff. The room rooms are beautiful and spacious. Really close to the Urca nature trail where you can climb the first ‘loaf’ for free and enjoy a fabulous hike near the praia vermelha. Loved the location and also super safe to enjoy an evening walk along the river.

Nothing negative to report, I would just say to access, there are stairs, so if this is an issue, FYI.

Very jaded, cracked crockery, bathroom not so clean, cracked tiles, dark dingy mosquitoes - although they asked if we needed soap and shower gels etc, nothing ie hand soap in sink.
