the rooms where warm and comfortable i liked the fact that some hotels still provide nice biscuits and hot chocolate. the staff where very helpful even after I forgot to take some belongings.

Very relaxing and comfortable stay

Deluxe room was spacious and so comfortable. A lot of stairs to climb but worth it.

The UHT milk sachets for tea were off, but not a problem as milk was given as a replacement.

Our room was quiet and comfortable. The night before we ate a delicious meal in the bar of the hotel in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.

Well maintained in public areas. Bedding comfortable and clean.

Little sound proofing between rooms, could hear every word of neighbours conversations. Efficient rather than friendly service was a little cold.

Excellent hotel.

Room was great. Hot drinks tray was extra special. Bathroom was well stocked with toiletries and towels. Temperature in the room was excellent. Streaming apps on the tv is a nice touch. Breakfast was amazing, delicious and plentiful with attentive yet unobtrusive staff.

I found the bed quite hard. I like a firm bed but as a side sleeper, both my hips became sore quickly.

Brilliant staff, really friendly and went out of their way to help with everything we asked. The hotel was amazingly clean and the bed was comfy.

The bedroom was a little tired but the bathroom was beautiful and it's obvious that work is being undertaken to upgrade.

Fantastic Independent Local Run Hotel

I was organising a function for work and stayed 1 night. The room was very clean spacious and warm. It had tea and coffee making facilities. Tv in room. Good selection for breakfast and friendly staff.

No bath. Quality of the Scottish breakfast could have been better looked great but felt it tasted cheap.

It was fine but the room was disappointing.

We stay there often when visiting family and friends as we come from Greenock. We love the location and the staff are always very friendly and helpful.

We were disappointed in the room. The wallpaper was coming off the ceiling. It looked neglected. We were very shocked by this as we always fine the rooms clean and welcoming. We did tell the staff after we arrived and again when we were leaving. We chose to stay in the room as it was overnight and we were meeting family for lunch . Later we met more family for drinks.

We chose to take dinner every night as the breakfast was so good.Choice was excellent,service good and acceptable cost The garden areas are pleasing and well maintained and enhance the comfortable ambiance of the hotel. .

The only slight niggle was that the pillows could have been more plumptious.

A great place for a family party

Good breakfast and good location as it was a family party in the garden room which was a nice room with a reasonably priced bar and good food . The main party of the hotel is quite grand and well maintained so all in all a good visit

Rooms are a bit dated and the bed was very firm and a bottle of water and a few more complementary shower gel and soaps wouldn’t have gone a miss

Hotel is in a good location with car parking available, rooms were clean but very basic, could do with a revamp and upgrade, service from reception staff leaves room for improvement

Rooms were very basic and beds were uncomfortable-breakfast was overcooked on Saturday,but made to order, Sunday breakfast was buffet service with very dry and overcooked eggs, although fresh eggs were provided on asking

I visit her often for business - always chose the tontine. Great food - I loved the haggis jacket potato! Good breakfast, very filling.

Great welcome, great room and great breakfast!

Room was warm, nicely decorated and clean. Bathroom was first class with an excellent shower. bed was comfy and a good nights sleep was had. Reception and bar Staff were all really friendly and welcoming. breakfast was buffet but was plentiful and tasty - no complaints on that front. All in all, a great stay.

The bed was very uncomfortable, no give in the mattress like sleeping on the floor. The pillows were very flat. Not a good sleep at all

In the city I needed to stay. Restaurant was nice

Had a little trouble finding the hotel; Address does not seem to line up with GPS map. Up 2 flights of spiral stairs carrying HEAVY suitcase. Wish that breakfast service started before 7 AM. Room was very warm when we first arrived. Western window shades wide open letting in the sun. It did cool off outside and we opened up the windows. ( no screens). That helped some. We asked for a fan from the front desk. That was even better. Cooled off well overnight.

Fabby hotel!

The hotel was an unexpected surprise on arrival. Lovely decor and warm feel to it, with its huge chandeliers. Too early for check in but directed to a lovely cocktail bar where we enjoyed a bottle of prosecco. The bedrooms were clean, and the shower was adequate for our very short stay. Varied selection of breakfast items to satisfy most guests. Poached eggs seemed to cause an issue, however, when they did arrive they were very tasty. Despite the hotel having other commitments with film crews, staff were attentive to all our needs. Met a lovely lady who used to run the hotel with her husband. Her daughter was now managing the hotel. The hotel is a credit to them both. Would definitely return if in the area, in the future.
