Living in a fairy tale castle which felt like a genuine Tuscan experience. Beautiful views, grounds, rusticly decorated rooms, wonderful pool area and meals on the veranda every evening were so atmospheric !

Fantastic except the restaurant.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful apartment in the Italian countryside. The space was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the surrounding property was absolutely stunning—peaceful, scenic, and full of charm. It was the perfect place to relax and soak in the beauty of the region. However, we would not recommend the on-site restaurant. One of the waiters brought my husband a bowl of onion soup, which he had ordered. After we had tasted the croutons, the waiter suddenly said the soup was actually meant for someone else. To our shock, he took the soup away—after we had tasted it—and brought it to another guest, who began eating it unaware that it had already been partially consumed. We were appalled by the lack of hygiene and basic service standards. Despite this very disappointing restaurant experience, the property itself was fantastic. If you’re looking for a beautiful countryside stay and plan to dine elsewhere, this is a wonderful place to stay.

Cozy Castle near Florence!

My second time at the castle and the first with my new husband :-)! What a lovely experience. The staff and owner are so kind, cheerful, and accommodating. They helped us find a great company to have a Vespa tour and wine tasting, helped us do some laundry, and answered our daily questions :-)! Especially helpful were the clear directions on where to leave our car near Florence to hop on the local rail to get into the city center. Super easy! They've added a restaurant since I was there in 2018. Amazing:-) Be prepared to embrace the experience. This is a thousand-year-old castle! It is rustic and lovely. Wonderful deep sleep in the countryside. The beds are very comfortable, bathrooms super clean, and depending on your room, you may even have your own private balcony like we did. Easy to get to Florence and all the beautiful surrounding towns. Perfect home base :-) We will definitely be going back!

The only thing that was a little glitchy was that GPS took us different routes to get back to the castle at different times. Check satellite map for the most direct route and biggest road, or you may get a little extra scenic activity ;-).

Beautiful location and oozes history and charm

The property, room and location are amazing. It is very old so my review should be taken with that in mind. The room was comfortable and well equipped for my needs. The charm and beauty is Bragg taking. It oozes history and is not over renovated or polished.

The room was a little cold for me- this is a personal thing and I’m guessing when the weather is warmer this would be a bonus. The experience in the restaurant was the worst I have ever had- food and service were bad in equal measure. I wish I had never had this experience as part of the stay- it ruined an otherwise great holiday. I give this point of feedback in the hope that the hotel (we also gave the feedback in person- 15 of us!) can look into this point and ensure it never happens to other guests.

Authentic, rustic, historic, relaxing, delicious.

We were looking for an authentic rustic 'castle' stay in Tuscany. This place was perfect!!!! Traveling as two families of three. The three-bedroom villa was perfect for our group. This 14th century property is simply beautiful and steaming with local culture and history. The onsite restaurant (open for dinner only) served wonderful local Tuscan cuisine. We enjoyed lounging at the beautiful swimming pool at the end of our days. Very quiet and relaxing stay.

The kitchen was poorly equipped. The coffee maker brewed so slow that we joked about starting it the night before to get a full pot of coffee by morning. The mosquitos were ferocious. There aren't any screens on the windows, so beware!!

This property could have been exceptional with some attention to detail and a few minor adjustments.

We loved exploring the historic building and grounds. We loved the convenience of having a delicious bar and restaurant with great ambiance onsite. We appreciated there being white sheets on the beds.

The shower had BLACK MOLD and it didn’t drain properly. The toilet flush cover wouldn’t stay on the wall. The lighting inside was very dim especially in the bathroom. We were not provided with the proper amount of toilet paper and no dish soap which most travelers do not carry. Also trash disposal should have been included in the cleaning fee.

Beautiful, interesting place with old world nostalgia

The facility is very nice and the staff that wait on you are incredibly accommodating. Our room had a small kitchen and sitting area that was perfect for the two of us. The room came with a fan which we really did not need since we had screens on our window. Dinners were so much fun. The food was good and the setup allowed you to meet and talk to people around you. We met so many nice folks from all over the world and have made some friends.

It would have been nice if they offered coffee and a simple breakfast (bread, butter, jam) for those morning when you don't feel like walking or driving to Montagnana to get some breakfast.

Several things: 1. Bigger pool/or less guests 2. Proper aircon in the bedrooms - with the heat it was unbearable 3. Proper little outdoor area where one could sit in front of the property, as it was impossible to sit around the pool

Stunning castle close to Florence but please start taking guests on tours of the place

Stunning location, incredibly historic property, beautiful surroundings with lots to do and very close to Florence. Food at the restaurant for dinner was very good.

It felt like there was no host, just people working at the castle. We learnt from an ebike guide from a local village on the last day that the castle was much more historically important that we knew. Having asked unsuccessfully for someone to give us a tour of the castle on the second day this was a huge shame. A real host would have been itching to show paying guests around and tell them everything.

The pool is very cold - so for adults is ok, but we had a baby with us, and it was to cold for him. The house we rented was a little to simple - but it worked. We missed a couple things in the kitchen.. but we made it work. The house we rented didn’t have any WiFi - which we booked it with.. so that sucked. And the house was laying in the middle of a parking lot which wasn’t showed on any pictures.. was a little sad..

Beautiful setting that typifies the beautiful region of Tuscany

Great historic castle with unique and beautiful setting. Quiet swimming pool area.

I would have paid another ten euros per night for a welcome pack of essential groceries, toilet rolls and kitchen essentials like washing up liquid. Mosquitoes were a problem. We were not shown the air-conditioning unit. An upgrade with room wi-fi and TV would be good. Restaurant not open for breakfast was a shame, but we appreciated that Covid-19 and lack of guests prevented this.

Good, but could have been better.

The location was great and the building itself really beautiful as well. The staff both at reception and at the restaurant were so nice and helpful with anything needed in our apartment (like fans for the rooms, it was quite hot without them) and saved us in a couple of situations (bookings and tips), for which we were extremely grateful for. Food and wine at the restaurant were delicious and fairly priced.

Unfortunately the pool (which is beautiful and in such a nice relaxing and scenic spot on the property) was very crowded and filled with shouting and splashing kids and families.. the board asking everyone to respect the silence of the place, everyone's right to a quiet spot and relaxation, no diving, eating and drinking by the pool area, was constantly ignored and everything that was prohibited was instead happening everyday. Consequently we were only able to really enjoy the pool a couple of times only throughout our stay. A real pity.

We hadden een appartement met 2 slaapkamers. Dit was zeer smaakvol ingericht, veel oude elementen werden bewaard. Het was zalig om door het hele domein te dwalen, je kan je even prinses van het hele kasteel voelen, bijna de hele benedenruimte is toegankelijk voor iedereen. Doordat het zo groot is, kom je amper andere mensen tegen. Verschillende hoekjes waar je kon gaan zitten, het zwembad, de tuin, ... De eigenaars waren heel vriendelijk, deden goede suggesties rond restaurants of waar parkeren als je naar Firenze wilde,... Een boek over de geschiedenis van het kasteel mocht zo geleend worden, of een leesboek uit hun oude bibliotheek (vb een boek van Chaucer uit 1876 lezen in je leeshokje met uitzicht op de franse tuin, het heeft wat!) Het is een fijne plek om te zijn en een goede uitvalsbasis om Firenze, Sienna,... te ontdekken. Een totaalervaring.

Als je mindermobiel bent is dit niet zo handig, met je koffers op de trap is even zeulen. Maar een lift zou het totaalplaatje verpesten. Voor ons geen nadeel, maar als je slecht te been bent, kan dit een minpunt zijn.

Es ist ein Ort wo feste wie Hochzeiten gefeiert werden. Grosse Gruppen, die den Pool beschlagnahmen und das Restaurant. Viel Lärm, wir fühlten uns von der Gruppe wie verdrängt. Das Restaurant war voll besetzt. Das Essen war sehr schlecht. Wir haben verschiedenes ausprobiert und mussten es stehen lassen, da es nicht gut war. Das beobachteten wir auch an anderen Tischen.
