CSW Hostel

This hostel was great! Great location, by the Maxwell metro station (MRT) and also the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. Easy access to many of the sights in Singapore. The hostel is clean and very convenient. The bed had a curtain, shelf, light, double socket for charging and very good aircon in my dorm. There are a shower room, toilet room, and a small kitchen. There’s a washing machine and dryer but also there’s a great 24hr self service laundry a 1 minute walk away. There’s also a good cheap food hall near by and Chinatown is on your doorstep.

Only one bathroom

I stayed in the "upgraded" room, which I would really recommend. You get a solid box with a curtain to sleep in to give better sound and visual isolation. The host is kind and sweet and allowed me to drop of my bag early. The location is amazing. You're living in the chinatown complex - a fascinating building with a world-famous hawker center for food and insights into local life. Many mrt lines and Buddhas tooth temple too. It's the most affordable option in sg, I could find.

I have been to this place numerous times at this point and previously made some pleasant experiences with the guests (eg. other curious young travelers). This time however, this was really the opposite. It seemed like it was mostly elderly (40+) people "living" there and giving me strange looks. Worst thing is that on my last night, some creep decided to start yelling strange and confusing words for dozens of minutes in his sleep making me genuinely worried about my personal safety for the first time in Singapore.... Another auntie decided to keep giving me food, which is sweet I guess, but I kept telling her I didn't want it. I ended up having to flee the common space to get a break from her.
