We absolutely loved our two-night stay at this beautiful château. From the moment we arrived, the property was full of charm, history and character. Our room was incredible and staying there genuinely felt like stepping back in time. There was something so special about waking up in a centuries-old château, surrounded by the French countryside and so much history. The beautiful interiors, architecture and little details made the whole experience feel authentic rather than simply like staying in a hotel. It was such a memorable part of our time in France and gave us the chance to experience a completely different side of the country. A truly beautiful and unique place that we feel very lucky to have stayed in.
The only thing we found a little inconvenient was not having any kitchenette facilities in our suite. Our room itself is heritage listed, so we completely understand why there are restrictions in place to protect and preserve such a beautiful historic space. Bottled water was the only thing permitted in the suite, and eating in the room wasn’t allowed. There is a shared kitchen downstairs where we could store our food and other items, which was helpful, although having to go downstairs each time was a little inconvenient, especially with tired children at the end of the day. That was really the only downside for us. We completely understand why food isn’t permitted in such a special heritage-listed suite, and it certainly didn’t take away from how much we loved our stay and the experience of sleeping in such an incredible historic room.

The duplex was stunning. It is in the gatehouse, and it has been exquisitely refurbished with beautiful bathrooms. The beds were comfy and the place was so quiet. There were slippers, dressing gowns and lovely toiletries- oh, and the roll-top bath is a dream! The welcome was warm, the breakfast was absolutely beautiful - fresh croissants and fruits and homemade cherry tart, apple juice and tea or coffee, yoghurts. Absolutely exceptional. Some of the original equipment like the cider press is still in situ in the chateau’s grounds, and it’s really interesting to wonder around. If you like taking photos there are so many beautiful points of interest. Honestly would recommend this place- it far exceeded my expectations from the booking listing.
My only issue was that there are only a couple of restaurants nearby. We arrived late on a Monday and the restaurants nearby were closed. Otherwise there are lots of trashy fast food joints and, as they don’t do dinner at the chateau, I would suggest stopping for dinner on your way there, or being prepared to drive at least 30 -40 minutes to find somewhere to eat. The only other thing to note is that you’re asked not to eat in the bedrooms of the duplex. This is completely understandable given the setting, and a nice picnic table and bench is available outside, but therefore that may be a problem for families with younger children. It wasn’t a problem for us at all. Breakfast is served in the very beautiful old kitchen of the chateau.

Such a beautiful place to stay, with so much history and unique features. Really peaceful, surrounded by nature and lovely grounds. Our room was exceptional, 18th century yet comfortable and light, we had a great nights sleep. The property is owned and run by the family, who were friendly and hospitable, providing a delicious breakfast in the morning in the kitchen.
There was nothing we didn’t like!
