The hotel is situated in a lovely woodland setting.
The entrance was inviting, with Spring flowerbeds leading to a colourful foyer prettily decorated for Easter.
We enjoyed a delicious supper in the bar on arrival and breakfast offered a wide choice of options each day, all well presented and plentiful.
The lady supervising the morning dining room was friendly and helpful and the young staff hardworking and courteous.
My room was warm - a priority for me - and, unlike the situation in many hotels - the temperature was easy for the guest to adjust.
I had a really good night’s sleep in a bed which was crisply clean and comfortable.
It isn’t a major complaint but the hospitality tray was not always fully replenished each day.
The service behind the bar was not particularly welcoming.
I may have been unlucky but I didn’t see anyone smile, either at colleagues or guests, when I visited.

Overall, the experience was fine, and everything you’d expect was there: spacious rooms, breakfast, and on-site parking within the hotel grounds - though it wasn’t free for some reason
It feels a bit overpriced for what you get. The location isn’t in the city, there were stains on the carpet, and the furniture looks worn and dated. I’ve had a similar experience elsewhere for about half the price

Convenient location for driving through to Germany
Tourist tax, car park charge and a modernised tired building. Room comes with ear plugs because the walls are thin
