About this house rental
Gorgeous two-level home features 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, a great-room encompassing a fully equipped kitchen, large dining area, and living area. Exterior includes a large deck overlooking the lake, accessible from the living area.
Two bedrooms with adjoining baths are located on the main level, each also with its own access to the inviting deck. Two bedrooms and a third bathroom are located on the lower level. In addition there are two twin beds and a twin roll-away in the common area of the lower level.
A detached bonus room with full bath offers an additional queen bedroom for a private stay from the rest of the house.
A 10-minute walk or a 1-minute drive gets you to a short path and boardwalk to the semi-private shoreline for great swimming in the sandy-bottomed crystal clear waters of Portage Lake.
For nature seekers, take a stroll through the natural trails of the wooded areas of this 8-acre property. Deer and foxes are a common sight. There is also a large open grassy field for any family sporting activities.
A 15-minute drive around Portage Lake takes you to Onekama and all it has to offer, including a city park with its own beach and playground. Great for family picnics.
An additional 10-minute drive around the lake from Onekama and you arrive at the beautiful, expansive public beaches of Lake Michigan.
Amount of sandy beach available is subject to change each year due to the rising and receding water levels.

The house and setting were perfect for us. Although nicely secluded and private (and very quiet and peaceful), there are nice views of Portage Lake and the sunrise in the mornings. The littles enjoyed the private beach which was perfect for them and just a short walk to get there. We had several deer that would wander around the property and house daily. We enjoyed watching them together. The large dining table made family dinners enjoyable. Manistee and Onekama are minutes away.

My family had a wonderful time at the Carroll Lake House. The view of Portage Lake and deer in the field on the property were great. It's really close to Lake Michigan! This was a really great place to stay at!

The home was large enough to comfortably accommodate our large family with room to spare. We had originally planned to bring our dogs though we didn't need to in the end, but it would have been wonderful for them, too. I've told my extended family I'd be happy to return here.

This rental had all the necessary amenities was clean but very rustic. Also had a lot of ants and fly’s.
