Nestled in five acres of woodland, Stony Lake Cottage is the perfect getaway for your family. Fill your days swimming, fishing, lounging, and boating on Stony Lake or Lake Michigan, or enjoy golfing, site-seeing, dune climbing, antiquing, and more. Stony Lake Cottage offers a welcome retreat, with handy amenities like a washer/dryer, full kitchen, fireplace, outdoor dining and fire pit.
The property is a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom private residence that sleeps up to 12 people. The Master Bedroom is furnished with a King Size bed, a sofa, a queen size futon, and Crib, with a Full Size Accessible Bathroom. The Second Bedroom includes a King Size bed and Twin size futon chair, with a Full Size bathroom (shower). The third bedroom is furnished with a set of bunk beds (Full Size bottom bunk), a Twin bed, and a Twin trundle. The third bathroom is complete with a dual vanity and bathtub/shower safe for children. In the Living Room, enjoy the cozy Gas Fireplace, as well as a Twin day bed with Twin trundle. The Full Size Kitchen integrates into the Dining Area and Living Room space. Appreciate the connected garage parking and on-site laundry at no cost. There's also a basketball court, patio table, and fire pit in the yard for you to enjoy!
The cottage is located on the south side of Stony Lake (not a lakefront property), which makes access to local attractions easy - Lake Michigan, Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Michigan's Adventure, golf courses, bike trails, and more. The public Stony Lake County Park with a boat slip is a short 0.3 miles west. Ludington, Silver Lake, Pentwater, Montague, Hart, and Whitehall are all within 30 minutes.

The house has a “cabin in the woods” feel. The main living area is spacious and has a twin trundle bed. The stay comfortably sleeps 9 adults in 3 bedrooms and 2 adults in the main living area. The house has hard surface floors throughout which makes it pet-friendly. The garage has a long table across the back which proved to be most useful for outdoor gear and non-perishable storage. When we arrived on Saturday, we noticed the refrigerator was leaking. Our son reconnected the hoses, but the connection did not hold. On Sunday we notified the host about the leak and that the fridge was not cooling adequately, and they were aware of it. Thankfully on Monday, the owner delivered a new fridge, and while we were out they moved our food and the old fridge to the garage until new fridge was cool enough. We asked to keep the old fridge in the garage for beverages. We would not have had enough cold storage for our size group without it. Be mindful of using water from multiple sources (DW, washer, shower) at the same time as it lowers the water pressure. Lake Michigan is a 2 mile walk; Stony Lake public beach is a 1-mile walk. The stay has a large open private area in the back surrounded by trees and plenty of outdoor seating. We played cornhole every day, enjoyed the basketball hoop, and daily walks around the area. 15-min drive to Whitehall; 30-35 minute drive to Muskegon. All-in-all, we enjoyed our time and would stay again.

The location was great. Close to numerous things to do. Remote enough to enjoy just our family with no neighbors in sight. The house was big and laid out nicely. So, when the early risers of the family were up and talking, they didn't disturb the ones who wanted to sleep in. All in all, it was a nice vacation.

This place is tucked away and very peaceful. Only like a 15 minute drive to the dunes. Great place for a larger group. Kids were able to play in sandbox and ride bikes around. Would definitely go back.
