Really lovely staff, rooms very comfortable and modern.
Not a big issue but the bathroom was a little cold , remedied by keeping the door to the bedroom open .

Everyone was soooo friendly and kind.
I could feel the springs from the mattress somewhat lumpy but nothing too serious, probably just needs turning more often.

Swearing, shouting abusive threatening behaviour until 11.45 and that was just the women outside our deluxe room so if that is your idea of a great evening then you are in for a traet and I fully recommend The New Swan.
Having stayed here with friends a number of times now Ystelfera is a lovely place to stay with a number of places to eat and even a supermarket on the doorstep, however sadly we will not be recommending the place or revisiting again.
Not sure if it is under new management as the owner was always around before and up for a chat in the evening so maybe now it is under new management.
We booked "as I often do" through Booking.com and despite the price shown on my booking form I was charged more, I spoke to the lady at reception were this matter could have been cleared up in less than a minute but she insisted the extra price charged was somehow correct for a DELUXE ROOM, I later emailed the hotel and received a short message from Gareth Shell who suggested I take the matter up regards any genius discounts with Booking.com as they should honour the 10% Genius discount offered from them, the error was not the fault of Booking.com but with the Hotel.
Not sure why the room was classed as DELUXE maybe having the noisy street view or the late night entertainment foul language under the window of deluxe rooms of 3, 4 and 5 or because it had a microwave.
It is very sad that my review comes up as a 6/10 as I normally leave 10/10 when leaving feedback.
Obviously Gareth is not bothered and if he is the owner then I guess that is up to him.
