Contrary to the hostel’s name Alcatraz is not dingy like a jail, it’s actually clean, tidy and well equipped. I’ve stayed around 10 days here and will be back.
The only downside of this property is the 4 bed room and the bigger room are only separated by jail bars. (Book the 4 bed room - it’s cooler and stays darker for longer-good for a sleep in!)

The idea of the jail etc
Hard to sleep because it’s an open space and everyone can hear everyone.. every noise goes through all beds.
In theory there is a room of 4 beds but on spot that room isn’t a room.. just some irons like a jail. So I paid more for the room but same poor quality of sleep.
May be you can have some staff sleeping with us to warn anyone making noise during the night.. some people here eating on the room at 2 am…
