Au Retour du Lac

We enjoyed the breakfast out before us and the hosts were very helpful and let us use their bbq & we helped clean up etc...

I think my husband being 6ft2 and active, would have liked a choice of breakfast - perhaps sausages . But it was nice. I think maybe they could put clean towels in the bathroom every day? But being British we were polite, gracious and respected their home and garden.

The location was beautiful with a lovely garden and lake. The room was very private and well appointed. The host was lovely, very friendly. The breakfast was to die for. Home made yoghurt, lots of home made jams, French toast, fresh croissants and seeded bread, and cooked eggs if you had room for them. We didn’t!! One of the best breakfasts ever. Fabulous restaurant in the town where we had an amazing meal.

It was cold and raining hard in June. The weather wasn’t the owners fault but there was no form of heating, such cold weather wasn’t expected in June, but we didn’t want to shower it was so cold! Fortunately we had a small fan heater in the car which soon warmed the room.

We loved it here. Isabelle was so friendly and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable, breakfast brilliant, beautiful garden, fantastic location for Calais - and the homemade jam yum!

Annoyingly our train was delayed which meant we only had a very fleeting visit. Would have love to have stayed longer to explore the lake and area. We will be back!

What a beautiful house and Isabelle could not be more welcoming and helpful. She even helped me try and track down the glasses I lost in the week! Definitely coming back.
