A warm welcome, a comfortable stay, a place to return to.

Received a warm welcome from Isabelle. Rooms were clean, comfortable and fully equipped. Only a 20 minute drive from the shuttle. Large comfortable garden and easy access by foot to places to eat. The spread at breakfast was superb and Isabelle did everything possible to ensure we had a wonderful stay.

C'est superbe!

Isabelle made us very welcome in their beautiful property and we had a wonderful time. The location, room and breakfast was perfect. Isabelle couldn't do enough for us and we enjoyed the company of Watson and Le poulet! We will definitely return and would highly recommend to others!

Clean, quiet, comfortable and excellent value

We had a very comfortable, clean quiet room with private covered parking. The garden is beautiful and you walk through it to get to the lake. Isabelle the host is fabulous, extremely friendly and welcoming , giving recommendations on places to eat in the village which were a short walk away. Breakfast was excellent with lots of fresh homemade food including freshly laid eggs.

Lovely place to chill out for a while without moving anywhere

The garden and room was nice, clean and very pleasant.

The only thing I found was off putting the floors were ceramic tiles, because it was chilly in April the floor was cold.

very warm and very welcoming.

The breakfast was outstanding. The hostess very friendly and informative and perfectly bilingual. The room very quaint and a wonderful large garden to relax in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the location is a perfect jumping off stage for the Channel tunnel.

Convenient and comfortable

This is the third time we have stayed here. It is located within easy reach of Calais. There are quite a few restaurants in Ardres within walking distance, but if it is pouring, then there is plenty of parking in the town. Isabelle is a lovely host and the breakfast is good. The jams and extras produced by Isabelle were lovely. Parking is right by the room within their garden. Isabelle kindly upgraded us to the larger room as no-one else was staying that late in the year!

Having to walk outside to go for breakfast isn’t ideal in the winter months, but selecting this property means we accept that!

Great find!

A lovely room with table and chairs for in room dining. Plates, cutlery provided in a drawer. An excellent folder with info on the local area. Spotlessly clean. Isabelle is a charming hostess and gave us such a warm welcome. The large garden leads to a path next to the lake and perfect for a walk. Breakfast was excellent and her French toast and jams are delicious. We would love to come back.

Exceptional

Everything about this property is absolutely stunning and it’s such a gorgeous place to stay! We only stayed the 1 night, but could have quite easily stayed for more. It was clean, comfy, lovely big garden which backs onto the lake and very convenient for access to the euro tunnel, which is a 20 minute drive. Finally Isabelle is the sweetest host, very welcoming and the breakfast served was absolutely delicious. We would definitely recommend!

Comfortable, homely, welcoming and just lovely.

We stayed early May for one night on our way to Italy. The drive from Calais was straightforward and not very long. Isabelle, the hostess, was very friendly and welcoming and spoke good English. The room was lovely and only marked down a notch because we struggle with a double bed rather than a king size, but then a king size wouldn’t have fit in the room. The shower had excellent power. There was good hanging and cupboard space. WiFi worked! Kettle in the room with tea selection, coffee and milk. Parking was by the room and within the private land. Breakfast was excellent. The accommodation had a path leading down to the lake at the back where we took a brief walk. Access was off the main road so very easy to get to, but no noise. It took us 8 minutes to walk to a restaurant, La Maison du Chef. There are more restaurants a bit further into the town and at this time of year, there were plenty of car parking spaces. On leaving we stopped off at Auchan for petrol and some shopping. Unfortunately Isabelle and her husband will be on holiday when we are making our return trip, but we will definitely stay here again on future trips.

Secluded comfortable house making for a countryside feel in a town

Bed - good mattress led to a good sleep. Breakfast - bread and croissant brought in by hostess in time for a 7.30 start. Home made jams and jogurt appreciated. Location - very easy and quick to get to ferry. In the town yet set back in its own unspoiled grounds as if in the countryside. Easy access to lakeside. Parking right outside the bedrooms. Nature is respected and is themed. Restaurant - Lots in Ardres BUT on a Wednesday only one open. Very busy but good. Lost property - the hostess let me know of what I'd left behind and also hunted down a GPS left in a room by one of the party.

The internet connection was very weak making use of search engines impossible ( wanted access to check out restaurants). If I had wanted more than one night I would have been in difficulty.

Hospitable, quiet, and convenient for Calais ferry and tunnel.

The hosts are most welcoming and the homemade jams and yoghurt for breakfast are a genuine treat. The location is great: very quiet, close to the lake with excellent paths for walking around, easy walk into restaurant in Ardres (Maison du Chef has good food).

Watch out for the hotel sign, it’s easy to miss.

A warm welcome and a convenient place to stay for the last night of our holiday

The house is in walking distance of the town where we had booked a restaurant for an evening meal. The location is quiet and we loved being able to walk through the garden and down to the most beautiful lake. Our room was simple but clean and comfortable with an excellent shower. Isabelle, our host, was welcoming and kind and gave us a very good breakfast. Only a 30 minute easy drive to the tunnel.

Very pleasant and restful

The room was of a decent size, bed very comfortable. All very clean, a large bottle of water available with a few hot drink choices. We did not use the shower during our one night stay, so unable to comment, but all other commodities were clean. All information needed would be given or organised by the host. Such a helpful and pleasant host, offering a few home made products and making a most appetising breakfast to your liking. Lovely atmosphere and you car will feel secure there as out of sight from the road. It is a pleasant garden to walk around and at the bottom of it, you could reach Ardres’s lake from there for a further pleasant walk. The house is well set back from the road and you sleep so well there.

I could not fault it on any point, all the comforts are there.

Lovely peaceful location, great parking, lovely owners, great breakfast. We took our own tapas and wine and sat in the garden. Very close to the tunnel / ferry. Will definitely return.
