I had a wonderful stay at 109 Ocean Road in South Shields! The room was clean, comfortable, and well-furnished, with an attached full bathroom that added a lot of convenience. The memory foam mattress was quite comfortable, though I personally prefer a firmer, spring mattress—just a personal preference that doesn’t detract from the room's overall comfort. The kitchen was also a great feature—clean, well-maintained, and stocked with plenty of dishes, utensils, and appliances, making it easy to cook or prepare meals. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from the beach and surrounded by great restaurants and cafes.
The host was welcoming and attentive, managing the property remotely, which I saw as a big plus for privacy. He checked in several times during the week to make sure everything was going well, which I appreciated. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to stay in South Shields!
I stayed for a week and had nobody show up to clean the room. I can understand a night or two stay without towel refresh etc but week seemed too long. Perhaps that's how it is supposed to be there but for a single professional guy staying in a guesthouse for a week, it was a real tester to have to do the laundry, etc. and I won't forget Colin making me earn this badge according to my significant other. The only part where it didn't feel like home! 😀
