Norton Park Hotel, Spa & Manor House - Winchester

I love Norton Park and go often for work. This is the first time I’d been for leisure. Lovely hotel.

We had a great time other than there were not enough staff on for a Bank Holiday weekend which meant we waited an hour and a half for our evening meal. The restaurant was full, many people were irate and complaining, staff were very stretched and at least one waitress was in tears over it all.

Liked the peaceful location and friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Confortable bed and good size of the bedroom.

Food and beverage department is the big problem at this hotel. They seem understaffed and this causes delays at both the lounge and the restaurant. We tried the food only once at the lounge for lunch on check in day and on top of waiting over 1 hour for 2 sanwiches and 1 salad, the food was awful. The sanwich had the bacon left over from the breakfast, the salad was floating in the water they used to wash it. Despite the online reviews, we tried to book the restaurant for dinner. We booked at the reception and no heads up of what was coming. Once there we were informed there was at least 1 hour wait to receive the starters. We decided not to stay but no manager on site to handle the situatio, just a young girl trying to handle all the unhappy guests already there. Pool area also needs a bit of refreshment. Overall not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel.
