Chalet Ivy Jozankei

It was an amazing stay. We loved every second of it. It was so hospitable, tranquil, beautiful, delicious meals, amazing amenities and rooms as well as the grounds, onsen, and charming town with delicious local cuisine. A must stay if you're traveling to Hokkaido. We have already decided we have to return as soon as possible!

We travelled through many wonderful properties in Japan this year, but Chalet Ivy Jozankei was in a league of its own when it came to genuine, heartfelt hospitality. The team including Tai at reception and Junko and colleagues in the dining room were attentive, warm and incredibly detail-oriented. A standout moment: staff noticed my daughter is left-handed during dinner and had her cutlery arranged accordingly at breakfast the next day without a word being said. Small gesture, but it perfectly captures the spirit of this place. The food was outstanding for both dinner and breakfast, and the snack bar stocked with tea, coffee and drinks was a welcome touch throughout our stay. The onsen facilities indoor, outdoor and the balcony onsen were immaculate and wonderfully relaxing. The valley location is beautiful with lovely walks right on the doorstep. On our rainy departure morning, the team drove us to the bus stop and waited until we were safely aboard. That kind of care is rare anywhere in the world.
