About this house rental
Charming, upper level, 2 bedroom cottage with water view and beach access on private estate. Gorgeous views and plenty of privacy. A path leads to the garden where you can pick your own dinner or take a stroll to the beach. Kayaks available upon request. This cottage has old basketball flooring, antique knobs and lighting, comfortable bedding, and wifi. The home sits on Massacre Bay with views of Turtleback Mountain, which has a fantastic hike with amazing views. The main town of Eastsound is 20 minutes away and Deer Harbor is five minutes away where you'll find a few restaurants, boat charters, and a small dock store. Need more room? Ask about our other rental on the property. Coming by boat or private seaplane? Ask about renting our dock. This a great spot for a small family or couples. For larger groups, it can be combined with the main house that sits on the water.

This rental was absolutely perfect for a vacation. I had a crew of five adults who wanted to be boisterous, but not rude, lounge by the water, but not be far from snacks, and ideally joke and play frisbee while dinner was in the oven. This wonderful house with its expansive yard was just the ticket. We could be a tad loud without bothering a soul and never once walked down to the cove without picking sweet blackberries to shove in our mouths. I didn't mind the drive into town since it was a lovely rural area and the stars at night were the kind you only see with little light pollution. The garden's tomatoes did wonders for our breakfasts and we cooked in the house more than I expected. The house had working wifi and plenty of amenities with some cute antique accents and interesting garden sculptures. What shocked me the most is that there are no curtains or blinds. If you are not one to appreciate getting up with a beautiful sunrise over a wonderful bay view - bring an eye mask. Also, the kitchen knives (as with nearly all rentals) were terrible, so bring your own if you expect to do any real cooking. This property description when I booked mentioned kayaks, but please note there are none available on the property for your use. If you have an adventurous group, I recommend heading to Sucia Island and getting a day of kayaking in over there. I sincerely appreciated the responses to my questions from the property contact. I'm probably going to dream about this house at least a dozen more times before I start fielding calls from my cousins next summer, asking when we are coming back to the house with the magical yard, garden and cove.
