The cottages were absolutely lovely, in an incredibly beautiful location in the Dee Valley not far from Llangollen and just off of the A5 main road towards Corwen, Bala, Betws y Coed, Snowdonia, and the coast for those wishing to travel deeper into Wales from here.
The cottages themselves were cosy, well kept, stocked up, beyond pretty, and had both a log fireplace and a central heating/cooling system that you could schedule to warm/cool the house for your return. We stayed in the Swallow cottage which had two bedrooms, one for up to two guests and another main room with a huge window with a view, sweeping curtains and a extra large bed. There was extra bedding, ironing and drying facilities, vacuum cleaner and cleaning equipment, as well as a washing machine, dishwasher, etc that would be needed for longer stays if needed.
If something was missing or you needed anything both Katharine and Simon, the owners and hosts, lived on the same estate and were very welcoming, hospitable and incredible hosts. My only regret was not getting to talk more with them.
The cottages are perfect for those who wish to have a getaway hideout away from the noise of everything and relax at the homes for a few weeks or a weekend, or for those who want to go out and explore the surrounding area. For those who are looking at exploring and getting out, whether adults or family, Katharine and Simon have already done a lot of the hard work for you. When you enter on the coffee table is a binder full of information that you may need, everything from the looking after the cottage to dining out and going out. There was walk, local businesses, nearby pubs and restaurants etc, all well described and written out as clear guided as possible. If none of these activities interest you then there is also a basket full of leaflets of great activities. I felt a need to mention as I was overly impressed with the extra effort. Would book again!
I don't believe I can really mention anything negative really. I would give advice for anyone staying in the guest rooms to check if the radiator is on before you go to bed as it can get really cold in there at night. Found that out the hard way, but once on there is no issues with heating. And for those who don't plan on using their own transport, the bus stop is a bit of a walk away(20 mins west) and the signal for mobile networks can be a bit poor if calling a taxi office.

We stayed in Swallows Cottage, which has stunning views across the valley. We loved to wake up and have coffee on the porch, listening to the birds and looking out at the view. The cottage is northeast facing so you get lovely sun in the morning and then it’s shaded in the afternoon (with some sun on the lawn, just not in the house). Then in the evening we could light fire in the fireplace and enjoy the cozy space.
We also loved having a fenced in area to let the dog out. The host was very welcoming and the information booklet in the cottage was helpful with lots of information about local places to visit walk and eat. The location is great, only about 5-10 minutes drive to town.
We cooked dinner in the kitchen most evenings. It was very well, equipped. The one time we did eat out was at the closest pub just down the road - it has a stunning view and was great for a drink (but the food was meh). In town, we really enjoyed sitting along the river at the CornMill for appetizers, and another night we went to the wine bar, which had the most friendly staff. One day we rented a private a boat on the canal, which was excellent for our group members who had limited mobility and needed regular access to a toilet.
We really loved our stay there. If I was being picky I guess a few things to note: Downstairs is very cosy - perhaps a little bit crowded for three people, but it was manageable (and I think also reflected in the excellent price). The hot water ran out quickly in the shower (but not the kitchen). There is some noise from the road that runs nearby - but I wouldn’t say it’s intrusive / more just background noise- and you don’t hear it inside or at night.

Charming, rural cottage surrounded by fields and stunning views. Lovely hosts, great facilities. Cottage was well-appointed, clean and appeared recently refurbished to a high standard. Beds were comfortable, wi-fi worked well and log-burner was an extra bonus. Enjoyed our stay and would happily return.
Nothing not to like, though an extra TV in the bedroom would have been a nice touch.
