It was a lovely stay will definitely be back

It a lovely location beautiful scenery. Great onsite restaurant and a few games rooms my son used. He particularly loved the gunpowder room with the huge snooker table.

It was good, but lack of facilities near by

The house was beautiful. Comfy, spacious and had everything we needed. Lovely walks nearby. Staff were lovely.

The water was brown, and my little boy became sick from drinking it once. The changing facilities at the pool area were poor. Very little space for bigger families. The restaurant was only open Tuesday-Saturday, and since we travelled Sunday-Wednesday, we only got to use this the once and had to travel 35 minutes for takeaway on the other nights.

Cozy, welcoming & great food in the restaurant.

We booked two cottages for a family reunion & the properties were perfect. Spotlessly clean, every thing you would want & need to entertain a small group of 10people.

We had a stove in our cottage which made it so cozy. Everyone used the swimming pool over the long weekend & went for lovely walks.

Excellent value and quality

The standard of accommodation was very high and well suited to a cosy winter atmosphere. There was also an attached garden that would also suit when summer arrives.

There is a single track track road approach for a mile or so but in this region it should not be entirely unexpected.

Great cottage, well furnished with a log fire and even a Christmas Tree! Very quiet & peaceful. Great views & environment. Kitchen well appointed with all the expected appliances (& some extras on top).

We tried to use the bar/restaurant on the weekend - were told at reception that it would open at 3pm, but it did not. We ended up going back to our cottage.

Great stay for a family party of 7, including young kids

Staff mentioned that farm cottage 3 was renovated a couple of years ago and you could tell. Really nice decor and relaxing environment. Plenty of amenities which appeared to differ from some of the other Melfort accommodation, judging by the app/welcome pack. We had a big fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine - which was great for us with two young kids. Good quality baby gates and cot. Everything was really clean, bathrooms/showers were great and living room was spacious and comfortable. The log burner was a nice touch. There's also an app you can download which is generally great, and the first time I've seen that, however...

In terms of constructive feedback, we felt the welcome pack and app were a bit generic at times and could have 'sold' farm cottage more. There was mention of paying for electricity and using a communal launderette etc. We feel like these could have been a bit more specific, including instructions on how to work the heating and WiFi/router (internet knocked off night one and we couldn't find the router, which turned out to be attached to the ceiling upstairs!). We stayed in winter and walked a couple of times at nighttime to the reception/restaurant/pool and back, and it was literally pitch black, with no form of lighting whatsoever. I totally understand there'll be logistical restrictions with the location but surely must be something that could be put in to lighten the path.

Beautiful location by the water, the cottage was stunning! Full of rustic charm, very well equipped and the bathrooms were a delight with the under floor heating, so many little surprises waiting to be found! Would highly recommend to any potential visitor, the on site swimming pool, sauna and hot tub absolutely amazing as is the restaurant, amazing food and the staff a credit to this! Will definitely be back 😍

Excellent use of pool, Gunpowder restaurant delivers excellent quality food & staff so friendly. Accommodation very comfortable, well equipped & Hugh standard of cleanliness. Great having a wood burner for those wintry nights, logs are charged & pay at end of your stay.

Very little to complain about, perhaps a longer rug or runner when coming in from outside to try prevent marking carpet with boots, more of an observation than complaint.

Our little trip to Melfort

The property was well-kept, clean, and offered stunning views. The staff were polite and welcoming.

Everything was going great until the power went out for eight hours. We couldn’t cook or feed our three kids, and we were very disappointed with how the situation was handled. The staff didn’t offer any assistance with basic needs like food or lighting. Aside from that, everything else was excellent.

Everything except there was no washing machine/dryer and no soap/shampoo in either of the showers nor the kitchen - & no hand towel in kitchen. I do think the wood and kindling should be free for at least one fire. Everything else was great!!

Melfort is a beautiful spot with everything you need to keep a group well fed and entertained. We had an excellent stay!

Lovely location, tucked away but with great amenities. Plenty to keep everyone entertained. The cabin was really well stocked with kitchen stuff so we were able to cook nice meals. Very spacious in the house. Staff were really helpful and nice :)

The only slight downside was the bbq we hired. We had quite a big group so we’re hoping for something a bit more substantial. It was a pop up job. Very rickety and with only one bag of charcoal, we couldn’t cook all the food we had brought. Had to use frying pans to make up for it.

Great place to relax and unwind

The whole place was lovely. Huge dog park. There are plenty of places to walk. Lots for kids. However, it's a bit out of the way, so make sure you take lots of supplies, food, etc. The gunpowder restaurant was nice, and the food was delicious.

Cigarette butts outside our door, and a used poo bag. Other than that, the place was lovely, clean and well kept.

The views and beautiful location is the best of the property. Cottages need updating.

The location and views were the best part of Melfort Village.

The cottage was dated in furnishings and overcrowded with furniture. Less would improve flow. We happened to be here during a usual heat wave and there was no way to cool down rooms for sleeping. Window in primary bedroom was at ground level so open window would have opened no privacy or security. My friend slept in upstairs bedroom with skylight with no covering so light kept her awake. Finally, the whole space was damp/musty smelling.

A five star experience from start to finish.

We loved the property we stayed in. It was immaculate. Very spacious and had everything we needed and more! The facilities were excellent, there is a swimming pool on site as well as a games room and a full size snooker table, also a putting green, tennis court and a children's play area. There is a pub with a restaurant on the site as well, the food was excellent. The site staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble, they were amazing.

There was nothing that could have better, our whole experience was amazing.
