Appartamento Maniace

This apartment has two standout features - location and the roof terrace looking out over the sea. Magic. Inside it is comfortable, with two good sized bedrooms and comfy beds. There are two bathrooms. It is walking distance to everything Ortiga has to offer and there is no end of excellent food nearby. It's also close to the sandy beach.

One of the bathrooms was inside the bedroom - no privacy. While this may work for some, when you are travelling with a group of friends, it is a little awkward. The shower is on full display and while the toilet is behind a partial wall, it's not really private. Important to know depending on the composition of your group.

It's all about the terrace and view.. just wonderful. The apartment was clean and well equipped, we actually didn't spend much time inside, apart from sleeping and when the terrace was too hot in the afternoons. Loads of nearby bars, restaurants and shops within easy walking. The minibus service loop to Siracuse was handy to get to Siracuse archeological sites and museums. Ortiega is a lovely place to just wander. Communication with Corrado was straightforward... with the help of Google translate.

Not a great fan of foam mattresses, and the main bedroom was hard to keep cool for sleeping, but not a deal breaker.

Gorgeous balcony with a sea view and the perfect location to wander the streets of Ortigia.

The hot water ran out pretty quickly for showers

The location and the balcony overlooking the sea are lovely

The apartment feels squashed and has low ceilings as if it had been added between storeys. The bedroom with the ensuite has no window so it felt claustrophobic. Its shower had a drain problem so the apartment smelt and we had to disinfect the drain. The kitchen air conditioning didn’t work. The kitchen/lounge/living room is tiny - it would certainly be too small for 4 people. We had asked for parking right from the time of booking but the owner didn’t ask for parking until the day before so we arrived to find there was no space reserved for us. We had to use the public parking which is the other end of the island.
