Relais Di Giada

Great location in the old part of Como. So close to ferry terminal and 15/20 minute walk to the railway station. Good size apartment with plenty of storage space, great bathroom facilities and a washing machine. As we were staying longer in Como this time, we opted for an apartment to give ourselves the option of cooking if we wanted, and enjoyed shopping a few times at the local markets. Plenty of good cafes and restaurants nearby for coffee and dinner.

Unfortunately the air conditioning didn't work for a majority of our time and the lift in the building went out during our stay. Apparently it was an issue with the units in the whole building, so it wasn't in the control of the host to have it fixed. The host did bring in pedestal fans for our use. It was unfortunate timing, as for at least a week of our stay it was very hot and humid in Como.

Location

The washing machine was not working when we were there but the host was good enough to offer us laundry service but we just decided not to do it.

The apartment had everything we needed, a full kitchen, a washing machine, the main bed was comfy, the sofa bed was comfy enough for the kids. The high ceilings made it feel more spacious and it was helpful to have an elevator to the second floor. The location is really nice, right off one of the busier streets and easy to walk to everything (without a lot of noise). I felt like it was really clean, and really secure and safe.

I liked everything, we couldn't find the plug in the kitchen but that was fine.

The location of the property was ideal. It is a short walk to the ferry and the train station. The train station (Como San Giovanni can be reached by taxi or by local bus). Shops supermarkets and the city centre are close by and a pleasant walk exploring the city of Como. The apartment has limited cooking facilities.

Noise noise and noise. There is a restaurant underneath the apartment which renders sleep virtually impossible and the locals walk along this street as a thoroughfare. Sound is amplified greatly. Further the windows have timber shutters in the open position that are fixed to the wall making the room bathed in light. Owner was contacted to help close the shutter but no response. Messaging through booking .com were answered two days later, which was our last day at the property. We had to ask for more coffee pods and laundry tabs as the apartment had only one upon arrival. this was pointed out and coffee pods arrived immediately however no laundry tablets. Was it worth the money? No it wasn’t. I dare to ask booking .com what sort of inspections are carried out for these style of accommodations to accepted on their platform. A charge if 40€ for cleaning is a bit over the top as all of the above mention would have been addressed I would stay again? No!
