Lovely place!

When you want to rest and view one of the most famous mountains, here is the place for you. The location is outside the city, quiet, calm, and has very kind owners. There is fully equipped kitchen, wifi, TV with some apps, a lot of games for the children, beautiful neighborhood, with friendly dogs and cats, a lot of goats, cows and even wild mountain goats.

For some maybe too far from the city and the height of the rooms is a bit too low for me.

Ripped off. Outrageously overpriced. poor accommodations and walking distance to town.

This property is not in Grindelwald town, it is high up on the hills overlooking the town. The description says you can walk to town, while technically true this is misleading. It takes 20mins downhill to walk to town, and it’s very steep. The walk back up would be very strenuous and take at least 40mims. We took a taxi and it cost us 40CHF. If you have a car and want to be out of town then the view is fantastic. But it’s completely impractical without a car. It’s also horrendously overpriced. You are staying in a basement of a house. The main bedroom is basically a cupboard with fusebox over the bed that barely fits a small double. The ceilings are so low it feels claustrophobic- I’m 5’10 and had to duck my head all the time. The lady who ran it was nice, and the view was great. But it is triple the price what it should be

Quite uncomfortable and disappointing stay

The view was stunning but that is about it.

A few things have made our stay quite uncomfortable and disappointing 1- the accommodation is very far from the town centre. Unless you are a professional hiker, it’s almost impossible to walk to the accommodation. You certainly need a car to get there, so please factor in the car rent/ taxi into the budget 2- the accommodation itself is quite uncomfortable, the second you open the doors/ windows, an army of flies will come inside, this was extremely annoying and uncomfortable. The host, when we spoken with them about that, responded that nothing can be done about that. There was no interest at all to address this issue. I have seen in other accommodations I have stayed in very effective windows and door screens for flies, sprays etc etc - any least genuine interest to help you with a problem that can easily ruin your stay. We had eventually to close all windows and doors and bought insect spray which has barely done anything with the huge number of flies. It was very hot inside with no fans etc and no chance to open any door or window. This is very uncomfortable 3- all beds and pillows were uncomfortable. Event worse, there was a sofa bed, it looked flimsy and weak( very weak metal support at the head part). As we were five, we had to use it as a bed. I was very doubtful that this can be used as a bed. Aside of being extremely uncomfortable, I discovered after two nights, the metal bar at the head part was broken. I was not sure whether it was already broken or not. Anyway, I spoke to the lady and she asked me to pay 300 CHF for a new sofa bed. I am sure this one isn’t worth 10CHF if anyone agreed to take it. Eventually, she agreed to take 200CHF. 4- furniture or the apartment and toilet needs urgent and overdue upgrade. 5- the ceiling is very low and you have to be very very careful, otherwise, you may end up with serious head injuries

Great accommodation and places to feel Switzerland

The cost of living in Switzerland is murderous, so it was burdensome even though the accommodation conditions were relatively cheap. However, the house is in an excellent location in Greendelwald, so the satisfaction of the surrounding scenery was the best. The owner was kind, his daughter gave him a word of help, and his beautiful granddaughter welcomed him, so it was a more friendly and good time.

The path taught by Google Maps sometimes leads to the wrong route and is embarrassing. But it's worth overcoming. In winter, the road will be slippery, so I think you will need a 4WD car

Marvelous mountain view but not quite a value stay

Great location with a picturesque mountain view. Very close to nature and not too hard to find the property. Friendly owner.

There are quite some annoying flies around the kitchen and dining area. No washing machine provided which is misleading information in the facilities description when booking for the room; you have to pay CHF20 for laundry services. No options given for guests who don't want to use the towels provided, all towels are chargeable items at CHF4 per guest (not included in the booking fee, and you need to pay cash upon check-in). No restaurants nearby, need to self-cook meals.

Incredible views in a quiet side of the mountain

Staying just outside of town meant the views from our windows were incredible!! This does mean you have a steep 20 min walk to the bus or train, but we figured the exercise meant we could eat more Swiss chocolate haha! It has all the basic things you need for a cosy stay, it was very relaxing. The kids loved their bedroom! Diana was very friendly and helpful. We loved the walk from the restaurant near Brandegg train station down to the house, it was beautiful!

My husband hit his head a few times on the doorway haha (it might be uncomfortable for anyone taller than 180cm). There were no flyscreens on the windows and sadly the flies were bad (from the rural area) that we had to keep the windows shut, but the view made up for it!

A great Swiss skiing experience.

Great location for skiing in Grindewald. A blue piste just off the property going down to Terminal. Nice ambient, cozy, warm, and has a nice local touch. The host was very accommodating.

It was a bit of a struggle to go up the property since it was snowing and the route to the property is not serviced. We needed to put chains since the winter wheels still struggled.

If you want rustic with fabulous views, then this is the place for you.

Loved the views and the serene location.

Ceilings were very low. I'm 5'5" and would hit my head on the ceiling beams. The bathroom was not well lit and the toilet was wobbly. The shower was small and the floor of the shower moved when you stood on it. Also, the flies were an annoyance.

Ubicación de cuento en plena ladera de una montaña. Parece que estás en una postal. Bien equipado. Es una experiencia estar en una vivienda con una familia suiza, muy agradables. Vistas impresionantes.

Incómodo de llegar y las instalaciones están bastante anticuadas, el baño da miedo. El alojamiento forma parte de la vivienda de los propietarios lo que resta intimidad. Pero lo peor es la mala comunicación previa a la llegada. Teníamos alguna duda y sobretodo al estar en medio del campo es difícil llegar y no vieron los mensajes en semanas. Llegamos nerviosos por ese motivo. Muy caro para lo que ofrece.
