SunCity Camp

An absolute dream to stay in a dome in the middle of Wadi Rum! So cool to look out of the dome and see camels roaming around and the stars at night. Surprisingly big inside, bathroom was spacious with a hot shower. Camp vibes, everyone gathered around the fire on sofas, we saw the classic dish where they bury the food under the ground and was unburied - delicious! They also have shisha if you’re into that. They have activities such as camel riding and star gazing tours (and are very honest, told us it wasn’t a good day for star gazing as it will get cloudier later on, didn’t want us to waste money).

Not many negative things to say tbh, but just one thing - Opened the dome curtains to look out and a cigarette fell out (we don’t smoke) - it hadn’t been lit but obviously the room was not as thoroughly cleaned as we would hope for the price. Probably our mistake fully but our car got stuck in the sand on the way into the camp 😅 Lastly, take water and drinks if you want! They sell them at their little reception shop, but incredibly expensive.

Located just 300m off the road and easy to find on the map, and, can drive right up there in own car (no 4*4 needed). It has decently sized rooms, including some bubble tents, a small seating area-fire place and a large dining area inside another hemispherical tent. Special mention to the manager Haytham, who connected individually with each guest and made sure they were comfortable.

Absolutely hated the pathway lights which were not switched off until 4am- messed up the start gazing experience/opportunity, which was doable right from outside the tents. Could have replaced with the dim floor fitted flush lights in lieu- flagged it to the manager, no idea what they do with it though! (Tip: Ask for the tents farthest from the walkway, if you want to even remotely spend time at night watching the sky). Too many flies in the dining hall- need to do something about this please.

Incredible desert views from the room, friendly service. Tours available through the hotel for camel rides, drive through the desert, hiking.

Someone knocked on my door and woke me up before sunrise (not sure it was staff or a tour guide) - perhaps a mistake for another room. A bit of a shame to be woken up and it made me a bit uncomfortable with the curtains open/large windows while solo travelling.

No hot water - evening as well as morning. so much money paid for this place, and this is very disappointing. they were unable to organize for hot water. food was also limited options for vegetarians in the dinner. one of the rooms our group booked was so poor that we had to pay extra to upgrade. its like they almost forced us to do it.
