Hostal House

-Location is great, very easy to connect to the city. -Self-check in -Staff at the counter is nice, not fluent English but helped a lot. -Facility in the kitchen is nice. -Single room with private bathroom. -Small fridge in room and locker.

-The toilet was not clean when I first arrived, it was a hair in the toilet. -Air condition turned off all the time after few mins on. -Blanket is too thin, it quite cold in the night. -The exit light on the door is disturbing the sleep quality. -Some stuff is full of dust like remote control, hair dryer, would be better to clean it a bit.

The room was perfect for one person. The bed was comfortable and the bedsheets smell freshly cleaned. It has more than you might think: the closet with the hangers, the shelves in the bathroom give you more option to organize your stuff, the heating, the big trashcan, and a small fridge makes things easier for you. I am a big fan of self-check-in and the autonomous entrance to the hostel: very quick and comfortable (if you do it beforehand). They also have a common area: kitchen with free snacks, coffee and things you can use in case you need a quick bite. They also have a toilet in the common area and a lockers to store your luggage after you check out. I am a person who uses a lot of toilet paper for cleaning my skin and I was afraid I would run out of paper. Luckily, the cleaning lady would leave a roll every morning at my door, even though, I didn't want my bedroom to be cleaned. I am glad, I didn't have to ask for it, they just made sure I had everything I needed.

The frames of the shower door and all of the "metallic" frames in the bathroom could be taken care of a bit better. There is a lot of limescale buildup. The shower takes too long to heat up the water (but I think, it is more of a Spanish heating system issue). I don't mind having only a window that is blocked by another panel to give you privacy, but I know some people might find it uncomfortable. There is an emergency light you can't turn off and also some noise when people go to the garden or open the door. But if you are a heavy sleeper, like me, I am sure you won't mind either.

The location was perfect. Within a short walk of the La Campana bus and metro stations along the Gran via de Les Corts. The staffless check-in went very smoothly. Street noise couldn't be heard in the room; Daily cleaning (if requested) was very efficient; The bed was comfortable enough; shampoo and soap was always available; shared dining table and kitchen was appreciated

Good side is that the building was well insulated; the bad side is that because of this, when somebody opens or closes the door of their room, it would cause the other doors to rattle. This was bothersome at night.

Sort of a working class neighbourhood but felt very safe. 6 minute walk to metro.
