So what makes a luxury hotel? The people, the service, the ammenities and atmosphere. In 2 of these ways JW Marriott ticks the boxes. Their staff are genuinely warm and caring. They provide exceptional service. Beyond this and the actual reception area, things falls apart. Location is the key. Central to everything and smack next to the Merdeka square and the big shopping center Podomoro is directly opposite.
Building , rooms , facilities are tired, old and needs a serious makeover. Instead of plush, sink in cushions, you can feel the springs and threadbare material. No effort is made to cover repair work. White silicon sealant around the taps sticks out against yellow marble in the shower. Grouting is mouldy. Leaks water into the general bathroom area. The pool, sauna feels like a public swimming pool. There is no feel of exclusivity and luxury that I expect given I’m paying so much for a night! I wear my slippers everywhere for fear of catching a wart from the wet floors everywhere.
