Perfect Stay, Location and Staff

The staff are fantastic. Extremely welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for them. I never needed to ask them for anything, if I went out, upon my return, everything was replenished in my room and clean, even when I felt it was still spotless from the previous day. The location is perfect for Paignton, just a short walk, the beach is literally a few hundred yards away along with links to bus stops and the train station for trips out to other locations along the coast and beyond.

Absolutely nothing negative to say about the hotel, staff or environment and atmosphere.

Lovely stay in this unusual but very friendly hotel

This accommodation is in a great location for Paignton seafront, and for the walk over Roundham Head to Goodrington Sands. We were warmly welcomed on arriving by the owner, Kathy, and her helpers, and were shown to our room. We had booked a room with a king-size (UK definition) bed, which was extremely comfortable. The room (11) was simply decorated, with just enough furniture, though no desk/dressing table (which we didn't need - but can provide useful space). The bathroom was a good size, with a sunken bath, which we thought very quirky, but actually was a lot easier to use than many high-sided baths. The shower worked well, and we were supplied with regular towel changes over our 3 day stay. A reasonable continental breakfast was supplied, but on days 2 and 3 we opted for eggs on toast cooked to order for just £3 per serving extra - well worth it! We liked the whole place, slightly quirky though it is - including all the wonderful nods to rail travel of earlier days all over the place, and we were made so welcome and slept so well that we'll definitely return.

Next time we'll go for a slightly bigger room, if we're staying several days. Also, the breakfast supplied is (inevitably) sugar and carbohydrate heavy - not ideal for diabetics! But the cooked options are reasonably priced.

1st Class Hospitality at a very good price.

The hospitality from all staff was simply excellent. Borh Elaine (general manger) and Cathy (The Owner) were truly amazing throughout. Very helpful and always able to answer any enquiries.

Great location and very friendly staff. We were made to feel very welcome. Nice breakfast, orange juice, choice of cereals and toast, and a lovely coffee machine which meant we could have our morning espresso. Also various choice of tea.

What a lovely place!

This is a warm and welcoming hotel. Both Cathy and Elaine make you feel part of the family. It's very clean and comfortable and is in an excellent location - two minutes walk away from the beach, promenade and harbour.

Fantastic Staff and great Hotel by the beach

Staff were amazing. Cathy and Elaine were both lovely especially with my 4 year old boy Casper. He loved the hotel. From the pond in the garden to the trains throughout. Cathy playing the piano with my boy was lovely, big hit with twinkle twinkle and the music man, was great :)

Perfect for my requirements

I like the reasonable price per nights stay and the fact that there is parking and wifi available without an additional fee. The location is great for anyone wanting easy access to the beach and harbour areas and it's a short walk into town. Always made to feel welcome - it feels like a home from home.

Peaceful stay and lovely, helpful staff.

Kathy and Ellen were great. They met all my requests, even when I accidentally overstayed, lol. Allowed me to use the washing machine and dryer.

good for the money

most things ground floor room, reasonable size, big window, good blinds for keeping it dark, small kettle was fine, the basin for washing hands and face was a good size, smallish double bed

too many small steps, narrow too so couldnt fit all of my foot on safely, not sure what happened to the continental breakie, the lass bought in a few slices of meat and cheese, coffee ok. The telly was very taciturn coming on after a while then not able to turn it off with the remote so turned it off at the switch, another pillow would of been nice.

I loved the welcome given on arrival. Very easy pre-check in through booking.com so no hold ups on arrival. The flexibility of the entry system. The room was cosy, clean and comfortable with several dimmable lights - perfect for creating the perfect environment. The bed is probably one of the nicest I have ever been in for comfort levels, hot and cold running water in the en-suite with well stocked shower gel and shampoo. Quality hairdryer in the room. Just perfect for my stay. Would definitely book to stay here again. Also wifi and parking available and included in the price and not additional charges, unlike some places I could mention. Great location for easy access to beaches, restaurants, town centre and attractions

The room was dirty! Bed too small and seemed short, though I must say the bedding was clean. Breakfast was just toast and cereal, no choice. Parking very hard to access.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect - close to the beach, the town center and the railway station. Despite being basic, the room was comfortable and suited my needs perfectly during my stay. It was quiet and peaceful.

It’s certainly not that I didn’t like this, but instead viewed it as an asset to the establishment when seeing the renovation/restoration process taking place inside the building. If one can demonstrate a little patience and understanding, then any negative issues can be dissolved in a jiffy!

Comfortable with a relaxing nights rest followed by a good breakfast.

Great host. The room was clean and comfortable with everything required for a nights stay. The breakfast was lovely and generous and at a time that suited me! There was refurbishment work in progress (which I knew about in advance) but there was no noise during the time I was there. Thank you

In my room the bathroom was a little on the small side but manageable. Although there was off street parking for a motorcycle, it was exposed - maybe having a gate would have put my mind at rest - although the bike was still there in the morning!

Fabulous, highly recommended

Lovely hotel, very convenient for the sea front and the town centre. Extremely friendly and helpful manager(ess) always there with a smile, efficiently making sure everything is just right. Comfy room and bed, very quiet at the back facing the car park. Good shower with nice shampoo etc. provided. Continental breakfast basic but enough to set you up for the day. I would stay here again.

No complaints. Hotel is undergoing some refurbishments so wasn't looking its best but there was no disturbance to the guests.
