The Great Western B&B

Excellent value for money in a comfortable hotel well located in Paignton

I don't usually have a continental breakfast but the one here had plenty of variety and kept me going all day. The place had an atmosphere of friendliness without being too much. I didn't have any extra needs but I got a very clear impression that staff would have done their best to sort me out. I loved the railway theme - even non railway fans will be intrigued by the huge model of the beautiful Duchess of Hamilton, which featured in a garden railway, sadly gone. The Black Ivory Piano bar, which doubles as a breakfast room is very elegant- and yes, if you are there on the right nights the piano is played (very well). It was lovely to meet Cathy (an unbelievable lady), Michelle and Darren. I found the Great Western to be a great base for my first visit to Torbay.

It may have been the weather and the location of my room but I think TV reception needs to be better. And the internet coverage was inconsistent. (Neither was a problem for me-I had lots of other stuff to do!)
