The Heron is a beautiful and newly renovated beach chic coastal cottage featuring comfortable and sophisticated decor. All of our cottages are freshly painted and have new plank tile floors, and feature all new furnishings to make your stay perfect. Enter the cottage through your private screened in lanai and feel the open space of the combination dining and living rooms. Heron has a full kitchen with a dishwasher. All of our cottages have thoughtful and unique touches throughout, from the lighting to the coastal art on the walls. This a great cottage to experience "old Sanibel" charm. The beach is just a short stroll away without having to cross any streets. Experience sunsets like never before and explore the most beautiful shells in the world! The house was very clean and almost perfect for our needs. The beds were comfortable and the showers were good. There is a beautiful private beach included just a short walk away and all of the beach paraphernalia that you could need. There were a few idiosyncrasies to this house. The biggest is the bedroom situation. For the second bedroom you must go through the first bedroom or go outside. It is definitely inconvenient. Extending the lanai to the outside door would make this so much better.The second is the laundry situation. There are two washers and dryers which is great, but they only take quarters - there is no app to pay online like we have used at other places where they charge for laundry. The washer takes 3.00 and the dryer takes 2.00 all in quarters. There was no mention of this in any of the communication, so we had to wait until the next morning to go to the bank and get quarters.Third and the biggest reason I only gave four stars is the toilet paper situation. The communication did say to bring extra toilet paper because only one roll would be provided in each bathroom. We were only staying two nights so we figured we would be fine. However, there were only partial rolls in the bathrooms so we had to make a second trip to the grocery store for more toilet paper. Toilet paper is a cheap and easy amenity.With all of that, we would still gladly stay here again. We would just be more prepared and hope the hosts will add some of these items to their messaging.

Only downside, having to get to the other bedroom through the first bedroom or going outside to enter second bedroom. King bed was not comfortable. Too hard for me and had a hump in the middle. Okay if you like a firm mattress.

At first glance the property seemed good, then one thing after another went wrong. All the dishes and silverware were put away dirty. The oven didn’t work. A/c wasn’t cooling well. One in the bedroom would shut off randomly. No hot water in the second bathroom and ants in the first bathroom. I called the emergency line for the property manager and was told they would call for someone to come and fix the air, no one came the first night and I had to call again the next day for help. They sent maintenance and said the problem was resolved but it wasn’t. All in all a very disappointing stay.
