DaVinci Relais Guest House

This was a nice place to stay. A bit far removed from most tourist sites, but there are great restaurants within walking distance.

The location is quite good. It's 20 minutes walk to Vatican, there's a bus stop across the street, there's a supermarket next to the building. Our room (room 1) was large enough for three persons. The WiFi worked decently for us.

When we arrived we found our room locked even though we have discussed about this on Whatsapp. It was probably a mistake but it was quite a surprise when you're very tired, your room is locked and nobody answers the phone (OK it was midnight, but we discussed this). We had to search for the spare key in their office. The balcony of room 1 is very small you cannot sit there and enjoy a coffee for instance. The soundproofing is poor, you can hear the traffic from outside.

Location is very good. Near Vatican City, good acces with bus. Very clean. Good facilities.

Check-in instructions weren’t quite clear - this turned out to be a B&B rather than a hotel, so reception closed much earlier than what was stated on Booking. They’d sent check-in instructions by email which I hadn’t seen, so I ended up sitting on the staircase for about 20 minutes with barely any signal, trying to send our passport details and home address to them on WhatsApp before they’d give us the access code. Not the most pleasant start, though of course it would’ve been fine if I’d known to sort everything in advance. The room itself was okay. Small and cosy, clean bedding and everything you need. However breakfast was a bit disappointing, just a carton of juice and basic sandwiches that were prepared in advance and left on the table for who knows how long, plus croissants that weren’t the freshest, warmed up in the microwave when we arrived. So the breakfast was there, but not especially appetising:( On the positive side, the location is very close to the Vatican and has great transport links to buses and the airport
