We rented this property for the week after Christmas for us and our 5 kids (14, 12x2, 11, 10) as a surprise. From our home in Indiana it’s about a 13hr drive-that’s reasonable for us to do in a single day. We were somewhat leary about the weather, but decided to chance it. We had never heard of St George Island, and there were no reviews of this property so we just had our fingers crossed. It absolutely exceeded our expectations! It easily accommodated our large family with plenty of space and bathrooms for everyone to spread out when needed. The master bedroom, located upstairs, has a king bed, en-suite bathroom with a tub and walk-in shower. The other two bedrooms are on opposite sides on the main living area each with their own 3 piece bathroom. There is a large open concept living room, kitchen with a peninsula w/ bar stools, and a dining room table that seats 6. Breathtaking views of the bay from the sliding doors out to the deck. Heating the pool was a MUST! The first day it was still pretty cold, but by the end of the week it was almost bath water. The bay was amazing. Even saw 2 dolphins playing during high tide from the massive windows inside! There is a beautiful private beach area where our kids put in paddle boards and were able to wade in the water. At high tide the water is only 3ish feet deep and low tide left the waters edge passed the end of the dock-perfect for exploring and looking for hermit crabs. The water is crystal clear, very little current, cool, but tolerable when it’s just up to your knees! We did buy the kids wetsuits and snorkel masks that they enjoyed using in the pool and bay. We absolutely loved the secluded location and pretty much stayed out the whole week. From the house it is also about a 5min walk to the Gulf side if you’re wanting some waves! Things to keep in mind...best and closest grocery is about 30mins away in Apalachacola (there are 2 “groceries” on the island but they didn’t have much). The decor is a little dated, but the beds were comfortable enough and it was clean. We will definitely be back!!!
