We had a wonderful time there. After an exhausting day it was great to be able to relax in comfort.
Wonderful location, close to an old pub. Quiet but in walking distance to historic towns and sites
Couldn't fault the place.

Lovely accommodation, in a lovely setting and central for exploring the lakes.
The cottage was lovely, quiet location (is in a 'group' with others, but we heard no noise). The view is fabulous, the local pub was very welcoming and did great food and good beer.
There was nothing we didn't like.

Avoid at all costs if you value cleanliness
The outside was done well. Log burner. Location.
Where to start...when we entered the property there was a pungent smell of mould so we left the front & back door open to try to get some fresh air into the property. When I went to put our food in the fridge I found it was dirty & mouldy- I had to remove all of the shelves & veg boxes & thoroughly clean it before it was sanitary enough to put our food in. The radiators were thick with dust & grime, there was dirt on the wall above the kitchen radiator, the microwave hadn't been cleaned, there was a dead spider in the bathroom cabinet, the entire property was revolting & thick with dust. The door mechanism on the dishwasher is also broken (with no warning) so the door slams down; to add insult to injury- literally- this slammed down & hit my partner on the knee when we were exploring the kitchen. We lived out of our bag for 4 days as the property felt too dirty to put our belongings out. I contacted the owner through Booking.com on our first night. Skyes Cottages got back to me, offering a £25 'gesture of good will', I told them this was a joke & to please take our complaint seriously. Honestly, if it wasnt for the fact we hadn't been away for so many months we would have gone straight home after seeing the state of the cottage. Skyes Cottages went up to £50 but refused to go beyond this. Considering how much we paid for the cottage (around £650 for 4 nights), it's disgusting. I begrudgingly accepted, since it was that or nothing, but let them know I am far from happy and will be taking it further.

Comfy quiet cottage
Peaceful location, central to the area I wanted to explore, very well equipped and homely
No private outdoor space, but I knew that because I've stayed there 3 times previously!

Very comfortable with everything I needed. Happy to recommend.
The cottage was nice and homely, with a comfortable living room, dining room/kitchen, and bedroom. The kitchen had excellent cookware, all dishwasher friendly. There was a folder with information about the Lake District, as well as manuals for all the appliances. I particularly liked all the lighting options in the house. It was a nice, quiet area, with allocated parking and a bus stop a 2-minute walk down the road. Very close to Ambleside and Wray Castle, only short drives away. Lovely views with some great country walking paths nearby.
I stayed during a particularly warm Spring and the bedroom on the top floor often got hot - I had to keep the upstairs window open all the time I was home to keep it cool. It would be good to be provided with a standing fan during the warmer months. The refrigerator was not as cold as I would have liked - I put my meat items in the freezer just in case.
