Tyreman's Return

The fire was beautiful when lit on a night time and the shops down the road sell fire wood/coal, loved the old quirks of the property, little nooks and cupboards. Location was excellent and a few moments walk down hill to the Main Street. Little kitchen was fine and had all pots and pans etc needed.

The beds upstairs were broken, a lot of slats off underneath and the bottom of the left side bed completely fell off and I had to fix it, luckily my son is light but an adult wouldn’t be able to sleep on those as not safe. Bath smashed on one side but didn’t affect use however careful for little ones fingers as sharp. Cob webs were all over and under sofas not hovered or swept in some time and walls have signs of damp, the internet didn’t work so couldn’t get sky tv to work so had to watch the few DVDs available in an evening (wouldn’t have bothered me pre child days as would have been out but when you have little ones we were home early)

We absolutely loved the quaintness of the cottage. It is situated in a fantastic spot. It was warm and comfortable even without the open fire. It’s compact but lovely.

We couldn’t get The tv, internet to work. The bath panel was cracked. It wasn’t as fettled as it could have been. The people across the way had multiple dogs which were yapping at night.

Comfortable cottage down one of those tiny hidden lanes in Whitby. Great furniture - comfortable and tasteful. Now, when you're visiting Whitby you know you're going to have to deal with some steep hills, but this place is nicely placed between the slope down to town and the one up to longstay parking. And when you're in an authentic cottage you know it's going to be dark, but bedrooms are reasonably bright and the heating made it cosy. Good bathroom too with a bath. Loved the bench seating at the dining room table. Recommend for a short writing retreat.

Biggest thing for me was solvable - I cut my foot quite deeply on a sharp exposed carpet tack on the spiral stairs. They are small steps so for safety you naturally stay as far from the edge as you can, but that's exactly where the tacks were. Maybe if people wear shoes all day indoors they haven't noticed this, but much better to deal with this I reckon!

Fantastic location , cosy and quiet

Neglected .. mould upstairs in top bedroom and bathroom , bath panel broken with sharp edge .. lack of cleaning apparent in every room . Leak from shower into living room .. host did contact agency but asked if I could pop round to office in town to ask for plumber? .. accepting that things happen was disappointed as the issues were easily prevented
