Griffin Cottage

Great location, close to town centre, lovely cottage with everything we needed

The location is perfect and the room sizes ideal for a family.

We had several maintenance issues that we had to fix ourselves. We did get a response from the management company but each time it was “I’ll tell the owner.” The whole place needs a deep clean. Gone downhill since our last stay.

Location, really like the size of the property and that’s it’s dog friendly.

That the front bedroom windows don’t open, it was too hot and stuffy. Ironing board, the cover was massive and didn’t fit all the clothes had lines on them from the metal. The shelve in the fridge door wasn’t deep enough and when you open it all the bottles fell on the floor causing one to smash.

The location for this stay was fantastic, and we appreciated that we had a car parking spaces (although a bit tricky to get to with the Whitby town roads). Spacious accommodation and beds were okay. It was also nice that they were able to provide a baby travel cot.

Sadly the cottage looked as though it had not been fully cleaned. The living room carpet smelled of dog pee, and my 10 month old found dog food on the kitchen floor (nearly made it into the mouth). Not all the bins had been emptied, and there was a used tore up (assuming by a dog) feminine product on the floor of one of the rooms -- in plain site, not hidden. This made us feel a bit uneasy upon arrival. I reached out via the booking.com chat and didn't receive a reply. I am sure I could have called the number given, but seemed kind of pointless as they wouldn't have been able to do anything and it is too much of a faff to find somewhere else to stay for 6 people including a baby.
