Didn't get to stay here.
The owner didn't bother to contact us to let us know they had double booked. Despite us being in communication with them several weeks before and the days preceding, upon arrival they said they had double booked and we had to move to a different location 2km outside of town (we had specifically chosen this location to be in the centre and not rely on a car). Very disappointing.

Beatiful Austrian house with cosy room and very friendly host
The host was very nice and friendly. We arrived at 3 am as my flight was delayed and it was no problem at all. Very nice and cosy room in a beautiful Austrian house. Breakfast was delicious with many home-made options. The property is located less than 5 minutes drive and ~10mins walk from the Matrei-Kals cable car (I think you could ski down nearly all the way back, but I wasn't there during the ski season). Overall, it was a better experince than a 5* hotel for me and would certainly recommed for anyone going for a holiday to Matrei.
